At our family Thanksgiving dinner today we discussed all this terrorist stuff. I'm a long time hawk, but five of the seven people there were Massachusetts Democrats and they have even become hawkish. Even the pacifist is talking about getting a gun.

The cycle of their increasing anger, they say, just makes them madder and, at first they didn't understand their feelings but now they want to kill them. It's a consensus that these wretched vermine need to be exterminated.

Last night we stayed up late, and CNN was talking about the attacks but the details were a bit sketchy still. I'm amazed at the photos of the hotel; it looks like a war zone. Something is going to have to be done, because the terrorists simply will not let Jews live in Israel in peace. The Israelis shouldn't have to keep going through this. Enough is enough.

This is my first post here. Many thanks, Diogenesis, for posting these remarkable photos. The so-called mainstream media will not show these, just as they will not call the terrorists by their true name, nor will they stop their terror-inciting appeasement rhetoric about "moral equivalency" a "cycle of violence".

The left in this country recognizes that the terrorists are doing their work for them. This is why so many leftists and liberals, especially their lapdog propaganda arm in the Hollywood/Madison Avenue Cultural Axis, have gone to such extremes to justify this savagery. They hate everything Islamo-fascists stand for, with one crucial exception: the paramount importance of authority and status.
Last week, we saw 50 rich pop-culturists in Marin County spelling out the word "peace" with their naked bodies. The centers of islamo-fascist activism in this country are the universities that play host to the children of the status-seeking upper middle class. The wealthy North Shore of Boston is a hotbed of anti-war activism.
This war is not about Arabs and Israelis, the deaths of these people are part of a larger power grab; the final overthrow of democracy by the cultural elite and its legions of pretenders, hopefuls, and camp-followers. Like Vietnam, this is a culture war, and, especially, a class war; fought as much on the airwaves and in the classrooms as on the battlefield.
I know this because, until two years ago, I was a registered Democrat and a member of the ACLU and ADA, as well as a supporter of a veritible alphabet soup of self-righteously pious liberal-left causes and groups.
It was about maintaining my position with my peer group, and sneering at the stupidity and viciousness of uneducated rednecks, though part of my self-designated superiority was to refrain from admitting this in public.
What changed? I honestly don't know; there was no light on the Damascus road, but there might as well have been. I just decided to quit lying to myself, real people were dying because of this nonsense, and I had never quite shed the last remnants of a conscience.
The giant engine of the authoritarian left is driving this war against civilization. Without their pious and wearyingly predictable reactions ("root causes" "cycle of violence", "desperate, angry people" squawk!) there would be no terrorism. What would be the point?
If war is an extension of politics by other means, then terrorism is an extension of advertising by other means. Oddly enough, advertising and terrorism share the same proponents and apologists in many cases. The enemy lies within, 9-11 brought them into the open and the future of the civilized world is at stake. If we lose, or are perceived to have lost, the War on Terror, the 40 year slide into a New Dark Age will reach bottom, and we may never see daylight again.

Regarding the Arab/Israeli issue...since the late 1880's..the media has driven both agendas..the creation of both states.
FDR and Truman both had to face the media in the U.S...and speak to the need of a Jewish state.
Britian to some degree wilted under the worlds media pressure..and bailed on Palestine.
The Arabs have been shown the power of the media...but that is not enough in itself..you need a broker on your behalf...enter now the U.N.
Liberal,socialist,patriot,Orthodox...at some point..the olive branch will be withdrawn on the Arab...the Jewish people will just kill them wholesale..the frustration of generations poured out..
What Arabs remain after..may meet Liberal Jews..but the Arab will have a different attiude then.

Thanks Dio, you continue to be a beacon of truth, showing us what the mainstream media will not. I had no idea the extent of the devastation at the Kenya hotel. It also appear the bombers killed mostly Kenyans, who also suffered in the Embassy bombing. This certainly made for a more somber Thanksgiving.

In a way, however, it was appropriate we in America learned of these attacks on Thanksgiving because the news makes real the precious things for which we give thanks: life, family, our faiths, freedom, safety, warmth, food, and in this hour heroes, public servants and warriors who are resolved to defeat the forces attacking us and our civilization.

3) poor choice of weapons. The Soviets stopped using those particular missles because they had problems with the heat seeking unit and weren't reliable. The version that they changed to is more effective, but is more sophisticated. It's not something that is easily useable by an uneducated terrorist.

Although I don't agree with the method you propose, you might as well pick the right weapon for the job. This is much more effective and won't leave anybody any time to run for cover.

You sound a lot like me! Check out my profile and you'll see what I'm talking about. In short, I was a lifelong leftie, until I "saw the light" after the horrific events of 9/11. So I've only been at it for about a year and a half, but since I came to my senses, I've never looked back.
