The people of southern Sudan live with terrorism and slavery every day, says a Sudanese Episcopal bishop visiting the Richmond area.

"Christians in the Sudan are being killed and churches are being burned," said Nathaniel Garang Anyieth, bishop of the Diocese of Bor of the Episcopal Church of Sudan.

Sudanese oil is sold in the United States by Amoco and BP gas stations, Handy said. "I have preached from a number of pulpits: 'At least don't buy Amoco and BP gas. At least don't finance the killing of Christians.'"

Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, recently said that the Islamic government also has cut off humanitarian flights into southern Sudan, and that Christian relief organizations are being bombed.

Our fellowship helps support a mission called Far Reaching Ministries that is headed by Wes Bentley. They run a chaplain training school in Southern Sudan and are daily reminded that there is a war going on. And it's not just the Sudanese gov't, but also Moslem thugs that rob, rape and destroy at will. The camp is shelled on a regular basis and they have had numerous injuries (and a couple of fatalities).

For some reason, the world has turned a blind eye to the carnage that is Sudan. While Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etal harp about injustice and reparations in the U.S., there is literally a slave industry going on today in Sudan (and these people are being sold into other countries, ie Libya). But I suppose as long as it's Black on Black slavery, it's okay with them.

What needs to happen is a response such as that towards South Africa during Apartheid. The evil is the Sudan, Nigeria, etc... is just as great. If our religious leaders decided to be "tolerant" only of other folks who didn't persecute christians, maybe that would be a start.

I encourage everybody to talk to their local pastors and encourage a boycott of companies profiting off the death of christians in the Sudan for a start. There are enough church members here, in enough denominations, to make an impact that could swell into a mass movement.

I care about the persecuted blacks in S. Africa and the Sudan. The left doesn't give a rip, because while the ANC was Marxist, these are just christians here being tortured, raped, and killed by members of the religion of peace.

The Bush administration doesn't seem to give a rip, because they have a blind spot for oil. There are enough concerned, americans, christians, to change this though. The duopoly of the religion of peace loving media, and oil loving administration needs to be told in no uncertain terms that they are being watched... and judged.

It's not the Sudanese oil that's guilty of complicity with genocide, it's BP and Amoco. That's enough reason to boycott these two companies, regardless of where that particular oil ends up.
