Washington Times ^ | 12/01/02 | Thomas Sowell

Talking facts to gun-control zealots is only likely to make them angry. But the rest of us need to know what the facts are. More than that, we need to know that much of what the gun controllers claim as facts will not stand up under scrutiny.

Thank you and Dr. Sowell for these threads, this one and
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/798164/posts from yesterday. Maybe the worm is turning against gun-grabbers.

The conspiracy of ignorance masquerades as common sense.

For decades the mass, leftwing media has held truth hostage with their anti-gun, anti Second Amendment propaganda.

They still have a tremendous psychological and political hold on many Americans. They disseminate error, without the bat of an eylid, as being the truth.

And IMO, many in the listening audience buy this error, in part, because they want an excuse not to be a real man or woman and face up to the responsibilities and vigilance necessary to maintain a free republic. And they remain wilfully ignorant.

Good article.

Even Sowell bypasses the real issue obscured by the gun control "debate" - political elites' control of their workers paradise, by overwhelming police powers' force as neccessary.

political elites' control of their workers paradise,

Good point.

This may explain why anti-gunners doggedly stick with unreasonable arguments. They know the ultimate goal is and un-Constitutional police state.

Some anti-gunners I have spoken with, don't seem to understand even the arguments they are trying to make. It's like they are programmed to use these lame arguments, knowing it is their best shot to overthrowing the Constitution.

Here is a shocker? I do not think that I would consider Israel's murder rate to be low.

"Other countries with high rates of gun ownership and low murder rates include Israel"
