WHITE HOUSE FAITH-BASED ADVISER TURNS ON ROVE; CLAIMS ALL DECISIONS ARE POLITICIZED

An article in upcoming editions of ESQUIRE magazine quotes a former aide at the White House as saying there is a void of substantive policy-making within the Bush administration.

The former aide, John J. DiIulio Jr., a domestic affairs expert and professor at the University of Pennsylvania, was appointed by President Bush to head the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in the second week of the new administration, claims all decisions are politicized by Bush's top adviser Karl Rove, and that the policy staff is afraid to confront him.

Fancy media outlets, including the NEW YORK TIMES, are prepping stories on the ESQUIRE effort, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

In an interview with the magazine, DiIulio said: "There is no precedent in any modern White House for what is going on in this one: a complete lack of a policy apparatus. What you've got is everything, and I mean everything, being run by the political arm. It's the reign of the Mayberry Machiavellis."

Some old news on DiIulio:

WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 -- President Bush has selected John J. DiIulio Jr.--a Democrat and an academic--to head his new White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

DiIulio, a Roman Catholic, has fans on both sides of the political aisle--he's written regularly for both conservative and liberal publications, and he's worked for the liberal-leaning Brookings Institution and the conservative Manhattan Institute.

Indeed, though DiIulio advised Bush during the campaign, he has not always toed the Bush party line. After the election, he wrote an article in the "Weekly Standard" that strongly criticized the U.S. Supreme Court ruling handing the election to Bush.

"The arguments that ended the battle and 'gave' Bush the presidency are constitutionally disingenuous at best. They will come back to haunt conservatives and confuse, if they do not cripple, the principled conservative case for limited government," DiIulio wrote.

Never happened under Clinton did it.  This is just plain Barbara Streisand loonacy.

This is what constitutes a scandle in the Bush White House.  Call Bob Woodward quick, this is far worse than anything Clinton did. ROTFLMAO

Esquire Magazine seems a very unlikely place for a RELIGIOUS man to go to to spread his GOSPEL.

Even Bush has not yet learned, you can NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trust the actions, motives or intent of a democrat. He should have known better.!

It's time for a little old fashioned separation of church and state. Separate this loser from his federally paid position.

Woodward said it was definately not politicized in his new book.

So this guy [John J. DiIulio Jr.--a Democrat] apparantly has been compromisd by the Carville/Daschle crowd.

This is spin!!!

Forget Woodward. We need to start the impeachment hearings already. This is simply UNPRECEDENTED! ;D

Oh, and did I miss the paragraph that explains why this aide is a "former" one? Anyone else have the skinny on why this guy got sh!tcanned, and when?
