God did not set up Christmas - man did. It is a holiday that was set up by those who wanted to honor the day of Jesus birth. Yet, we do not know the date of Jesus' birth so it is only a symbolic date picked by man. Therefore, I doubt God thinks any are offending Him if they do not honor this man-picked symbolic date as the birth of Jesus. Apparently it offends you and you have never run into anyone that did not join in your celebration of this honorary birthdate of Jesus. If they do not join in with your celebration, you now claim they have dishonored Jesus.

This is how man distorts the directions of God. There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas as Christ's birth and there is nothing wrong with not celebrating the date as his birthdate but instead celebrating the "spirit" of the Christmas season.

It's Christmas. You know, Santa, mistletoe, HoHoHo and presents for pretty girls. Go to the Walmart and see. It's Christmas. Go downtown and look at the lights. It's Christmas. Look at the specials on TV. It's Dickens, it's Bells of St Mary's, It's A Wonderful Life. It's Christmas. George Bailey doesn't run down the street yelling "Happy Holidays". It's not "Holidays". It's Christmas.

I think all you folks need a visit from Captain Obvious.

Well and who's to say that every Republican or recipient of that card is a Christian?

Every year, I hear people complain that we as a society have lost the true meaning of Christmas. However true that may be, the true meaning of Christmas should be held in your heart, mind, and actions toward others. Complaining about a card, when the world knows that the President is a Christian, is just wasted energy.

On the sideboard behind the piano, quietly and unobtrusively, stands a vase of Christmas Poinsettas - Poinsettas have a native Mexican origin, and are called 'the flower of the blessed night" because the shape is thought to resemble the Star of Bethlehem.

Well done, sir and madam, well done.

Please consider cleaning out your "own house" before criticizing the "White House".

I personally think that the President and Mrs. Bush are doing a fine job restoring morality and dignity to a formerly stained place.

Can we be greatful for what we have, please?

Hmmmm...Christmas, yes, but somehgow allyour examples seem to point to a man centered rank materialistc view of the Holy day.

However, according to the White House....

The effort is as much about not offending as about including.
(You, know, that whole No room at the Inn deal ????)
The Bushes' holiday card includes a verse from the 100th Psalm praising God: "For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth to all generations."
As usual, a large creche of 18th century Italian terra cotta and carved wood figures fills an East Room alcove. The only obvious religious symbol among the White House's gilded red-and-gold holiday decor, the creche depicts the manger scene at Jesus' birth.
(You know, that whole "No room at the Inn" thing....)
Formal party invitations ask guests to a "Christmas reception."

My little visit from Captain Obvious tell me that many here are no different than the cry baby minorities that mourn the passing of affirmative action every time a dem loses a seat....
