I agree, if given the choice I would have chosen all 3 of the following:
Illegal immigration is the problem.
Immigration should be reduced. (I assume this is legal immigration)
Borders should be closed.
I don't think these are mutually exclusive, nor do I think a single choice is all encompassing.

I think it is a poorly drafted poll, with many OK answers to choose from, none of them ideal.
It confuses the issues of legal immigration and illegal immigration.
Legal immigration should be cut back, the borders should be strictly controlled, but not "sealed" (which would prevent lawful crossings by our citizens). And immigration legal and illegal is a big problem.
Medical tests and English literacy tests for all immigration candidates.

I think a $500 cash bounty for information leading to the arrest and deportation of any illegal alien should be instituted. That turnstile at the TJ border crossing would be spinning so fast, the bearings would glow red hot.
I would also be in favor of buying the northern 100km of Mexico and make it a live fire military reservation.

here's the problem i see with the poll as stated:
some of the choices define the problems i.e. illegal immigration; and
some of the choices define the solutions i.e. close the borders.
that's why there can be multiple good choices, and that's where the confusion lies.
the survey should be asking one or the other question.

I don't know what happened to the poll but seems to have been taken down very quickly...Maybe it was going in the wrong direction???
Don't know who put the poll up but it appears that it was intended to splinter the numbers for those in favor of shuttin down the border...
Hard to believe on FR...

I agree. I almost seems that the questions were made to fragment the results. It seems others can clearly see this too.

I wonder if those who voted "borders should be closed" realize they're advocating no imports, no exports, no tourism, and no international travel.
I wonder if those who voted "borders should be sealed and militarized" realize they're advocating spending tens of billions of ineffective dollars on a great leap toward a police state.
Needless to say, I voted "Illegal immigration is Aliens are the problem."

As usual, it's hard to make up a short poll on a complicated subject. I'd like to reduce immigration somewhat, but not drastically; I'd like to seal the borders against illegals, but not to the point of disrupting commerce; I'd like to cut way back on Muslim immigrants in particular. Anyway, I too decided that the best choice is that illegal immigrants are the problem.
We need to fix our huge illegal immigrant problem, and we should NOT fix it by rewarding them once again with citizenship. Experience has show that that only encourages more illegal immigration, because it has proven to be a much easier way to gain citizenship than going through legal channels.
If there had been something on Muslim immigrants and Muslims admitted on green cards and student visas, I might have voted for that, or at least given it a high priority.

I'm surprised the poll hasn't been deleted.

I would like to see those that favor putting the military on the border explain exactly how the military is going to make a difference. Both the military and the INS are controlled by the federal government. The military will not be shooting people. They will not be deploying landmines. They will be operating in the same politically correct manner that the INS/Border Patrol does. So far, I have not seen one person that has any idea how the military would be effective in deterring illegal immigrants.
