I wish the GOP would play offense on this, not defense. Start pointing out the hypocrisy, start playing hardball. It's just not their nature when republicans are attacked they cower and throw each other under the bus. Hoping with each sacrifice they can make it just go away.
And the more the libs get away with it the more they figure they can do it again.

Be nice if Lott came out and said he was sick and tired of the double standard. And turn around and walk out.
To: OldFriend
If Lott steps down from ML the dems will demand he resign his Senate seat. That's what they are really after.
To: TigersEye
They are very carefully not demanding he resign from the senate.......there's till Byrd. No doubt they are being warned of a backlash.
To: OldFriend
I can't believe they are concerned about any backlash. They always defend their own and excuse them for anything. Big Media never made a peep about Byrd's words and they were far worse than this.
To: TigersEye
The question was actually asked by one of the talking heads of a dem. Aren't you afraid you are going too far here.

Let the idiot without sin cast the first stone! Sharpton for President!

To even be a hypocrite you have to be a non liberal...they don't even qualify---have values for that contradiction!
To: veronica
I wanna know why Ted Kennedy is an "elder statesman" of the Senate while Lott is being crucified. Who drowned as a result of Lott's gaffe? Why are Republicans always having to prove they are not racists, while Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson gets mainstream respect - while Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton runs for President, and Robert Byrd ex-KKK gets a free ride?? (That's my rant du jour. :)) The reason? It's called our biased press. - Tom

I think Swaggert was caught again with hookers in the past few years, he is taking the 4 score and 20 sins edict seriously!

Frankly, the black caucus doesn't care what harm this does to their party or the country. They want their screeching time on TV and they'll get it. Marxine Waters is the perfect example of just how bankrupt the democrat party has become and just how beholden they are to the crazies that support them.

ojsimpliflication of america!

Good post, I agree totally. Hardball IS the name of the game and it is only the Democrats who are adept at this.

I am an ethnic minority myself, and I don't see the big deal about Lott's remarks. Hillary saying "Jew Bastard" and Byrd saying "White N*gger* is much more offensive to me, but the leftie media will never cover it.
Remember Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment: "Thou shalt not attack a fellow Republican..."
Lott-haters seem to have forgotten about that as they are hurting the overall party. Ross Perot gave us Bill Clinton. I would rather George Bush Sr. as President than Al-Queda sympathizer, Bill Clinton. And because of Ross Perot, we now have the Hilderbeast the Senator of my state.
Fight back against the liberal media and smash it.

Democrats have no issues to get elected on, so what they want is a target to point to and run against rather than an issue.

The Republicans could start by saying "Lotts remarks don't RISE TO THE LEVEL of racism".
