I'm POSITIVE that it is a simple majority in the Republican Caucus to decide leadership.

The 2/3rds majority to convict in an impeachment is Constitutionally mandated.

I totally understand how you feel...I just don't have the stomach for a mass exodus at this time. Lott cares about his own a$$ right now. I only hope somebody can talk sense to him.

So pretty much we're screwed whether Lott stays or goes? Thanks, Trent, you freakin' idiot! And kudos to the GOP Senate for keeping this guy in to begin with, we could have told them around here what a mistake that was even then. Little did we know how soon it would be worse...

I just talked to a legislative director for a huge labor organization and he 1.) wants Lott to stay and 2.) doesn't want Nickles. Why not Nickles? He says he is too smart and 'knows strategy'.

As far as I'm concerned, that's a ringing endorsement.

Rick Santorum would be a real good choice!

I totally agree!

However, I think Nickles has more seniority and is far better situated to pull it off.

But I would certainly be ecstatic over having Senator Santorum in that post.

Absolutely! *grin*

Oklahoma is a right-to-work state...the labor bosses hate Oklahoma with a passion.

Hehehe...

Yes, but that's not the reason they don't want Nickles. They want Lott right where he is. With Lott there, they get a twofer. They can roll Lott and don't have to deal with Nickles.

Can you guarantee that Nickles hasn't done something silly or offended someone in his entire life?? The new standard is that all Republicans have to be beyond reproach-ironically,unlike "Lot's wife" in the Bible.I hate to imagine what the Democrats and Ms Maxine are planning for Don. "There is no person too nice to be ruined"-is the new Democrat and Congressional Black Caucus motto.

Oh, I totally get it.

As you say, his opinion speaks volumes about what would be best for the Republican Party and conservatism about now.

Not again. What is this obsession on FR with Nickles, who has a speech impediment, and is bumbling and ineffective much of the time on TV?

Bill Frist or Mitch McConnell. Those are the best choices.

Besides, Nickles resigned at Whip to become Chairman of the pork-powerful Budget committee.

I think we're screwed if Lott maintains his leadership post. If he stays in the senate but does not lead, I think we'll be ok.

Thanks to you and JW the state party is starting to come alive.

That is very good to hear...there is a ton of potential there...I can see how with good leadership, in a couple of years WV can be a GOP state. Then we can get rid of Sheets! ;-)

I should include RFP and mountianeer.

They ARE doing a great job...each in their own panhandle!

Buddy is on the radio everyday, bad or good. LOL.

God bless him, he gives it his best shot at every opportunity! ;-)

Give us our weather back.

You can't have it! LOL...When you live in SD, every winter day that is above freezing is a God-send!

Are we talking about the same guy? The Don Nickles I see runs circles around everyone he comes up against. And did you see him make mincemeat of Hillary a couple of weeks ago? What speech impediment?

It's important to get someone who was well liked. Clinton was a personable guy, too.

Does he wear a cute sweater, too?

Hey, Nickles is a real conservative

Now, which level of conservatism does that rank at? Is that above "True Conservative", or below it? I'm confused, I can't find a grading scale anywhere on Google.
