"The Pinkos over at DUh are having orgasms thinking that AL has sent a secret message that he's running again during the "Bachelor" skit."

Bwahahahahahaha.....they're like a bunch of apes hurling feces at each other over there. Glad I missed that one.

I just realized the irony of the thread title ("Live Thread..."). For one thing, many of the skits were taped, and more obviously, Al Gore and alive are not reconcilable concepts.

Lorne Micheals is amazing. Almost 3 decades of fresh humor weekly. That is a hell of a run. Companred to everything else on TV, the humor is politically balanced for the most part.

Regarding Lorne Micheals final joke on the Gores..

It will be in a couple of years, in the early part of November.

I was going to hit the abuse key until I realized that the thread was not attempting to insult me.

First we have singers trying to be politicians (Streisand to DNC)

Second we had politicians trying to sing (McCain instead of Streisand)

Now, we have equal time and we have Al Gore trying to be funny.

Sounds more like the script needs a "Lock box"

Too young for Belushi, I see.

EVERYONE knows that Brad Hall was the heart and soul of SNL.

I was thinking the same thing. But then I remembered that he probably DOES think this is a good way to get young votes.

I'm a MAJOR Phish fan...I was extremely happy to see them tonight and I will be seeing them there in NYC on New Years Eve.

The Peanuts cartoon was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!! " What did we do? I don't know- all I did was wave my hands like this" - still laughing here!

I think Al Gore was terribly funny. The jokes at his expense were pretty harsh. They made me laugh but I thought he looked foolish. Foolish because they were too close to the painful truth. Al pretending to be president - funny yes, but also pathetic.

I watched the Algore skits only because I saw mention here of it. Who was that Puerto Rican acting chick? Was that supposed to be funny?

That's Maya Rudolph, who happens to be the daughter of Minnie Ripperton, best known for making what is arguably the single most excreble single of the 1970s, "Loving You," and then promptly dying.

Al Franken must be in 7th Heaven with his buddy Al on the show.

I think it's pretty obvious that the only reason Al Franken's making an appearance is because of Gore. The Stuart Smalley character was retired what, six or seven years ago? You just know that either Gore said "I won't come on unless Franked does" or Franken said "I'll see to it Gore doesn't do the show unless you let me do a sketch."

Is that the song in the commercial with Jerome Bettis of the Steelers?

Given your Freeper name, I would think you'd know that Charles Schulz died a few years ago. His estate may sue, though.

It's a parody. Constitutionally protected. They can't sue. You can be sure NBC's Standards and Practices lawyers vetted that thing to within an inch of its life before clearing it for air.

Did Lorne Micheals buy Phish? I have never seen a band get so much attention in the skits, etc...

Phish is the Gen-X/Gen-Y equivalent of the Grateful Dead. Except weirder.

I don't really have anywhere else to put this, so I'll just shove it in this thread. NBC is so stupid that they just put out a press release listing the home, work, cell and beeper numbers of practically everyone of any importance in their PR departments. NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, News, Sports, Entertainment, if you ever have a need to complain about bias again, well, NBC just handed you a direct line to them!!!

As usual, the DU psychos completely overexagerate Gore's funnyness, saying he is a better actor than Reagan. Plus, they see the West Wing skit as beautful, rather than the deranged feelings of a loser who can't let go.

I think almost everyone here is letting their personal politics get in the way of a rational reaction to this show just like the DUh crowd is (though not nearly as psychotically, of course). Come on people, this show was FUNNY. And yes, Al was pretty damn good, considering that he has zero experience (and it was quite obvious he was staring at the cue cards most of the time). As for the West Wing film, I can't believe people are talking this down! For crying out loud, this is EXACTLY what we've thought of Al as being like for the last three or four years, and when he finally puts it on film, you don't find it hilarious?!?
