One supposes that a big part of Ms Fallaci's dispair is driven by the steady increase in Moslem communities throughout Europe but especially in her native land. Islam is well on its way to a new wave of conquest, this time largely bloodless, of western countries through immigration and demographics. Moslems do not pay attention to the Club of Rome and Planned Parenthood about the need to not reproduce and they definately are not into zero population growth. In the sense that the west is up against a cultural entity that may be backward and incompetent but has boundless confidence in its dictums while Europeans have confidence in nothing and only want to be left alone to enjoy a life of materialist ease.

Why SHOULD she? There IS no fundamental difference! If there were, the "mainstream" part would be denouncing, loudly and publically, the terrorist acts of the "radical". There is NO voice out of ANY part of islam making these denunciations, so all of islam is obviously united behind the violence, and therefore there is no difference. DUH!

LOL! She capsulates the entire issue in a few sentences which would take me or others several paragraphs. Major bump to her.

The booby prize for the taxpayers of America is to be force fed apologetics for Mohamed on PBS!  No Oriana Fallacci for the sheeple! She could make big bucks just by issuing a 1-3 hour interview direct to DVD and VHS>

Refreshing there are still people with convictions, who can see straight through the lies that are so prevalent in the media. Perhaps there is some hope.

Did not see this post and posted the following to a later one. I have been a Fallaci fan for years.

She's lived in New York for twenty years. Her book is absolutely dynamite. Written an Italian, she translated it into English and French herself. Her translations has been rediculed, but I found it delightful.

It's a very short book, and if you have never read anything by her, you will find many interesting surprises.

She has very interesting things to say about Arafat and Jane Fonda. She's hated by the American press (because she eats them up), but also by the Left, the Right, Muslims, and Roman Catholics. She is not always right, but she is ruthlessly honest and absolutely fearless. (Do you remember the Mexico City massacre, I think it was in 1968? She was shot three or four time and left in a morgue for dead.) Tough lady!

About the Muslims, she's absolutely right.
