Thanks, GoMonster. I'm not usually up this late, but anger is not a sleep-aid. Think I'll go listen to some soothing music. Night!

Has your life ever been SAVED by a transplant? Mine has. I had a liver transplant January 6,2002. Dr. frist , His Father and His brother are men of the highest caliber, and they have done a lot of good for the people of middle TN.
It's not an abortion clinic, it's a HOSPITAL, you dufus! If you get sick enough, you go to it. Although I am pro-life(boy am I ever),You one issue people sometimes drive me nuts! Rant off/

Why the people who think your sister should have died instead of having a LEGAL abortion.

Just wanted to point out that abortion to save the mother's life was, in fact, LEGAL before the scurrilous passage of Roe v. Wade, which made abortion on demand LEGAL through all nine months of pregnancy.

This is politics. You destroy my guy; I'll destroy your guy. It gets messy after a while.

Certainly, Rove must have told Frist this would happen when they started this...

So, at the moment, the choice is between the grand toupee of grovel and a guy tied into a criminal organization that has been fined $1.7 Billion in civil and criminal cases over the last few years. Is there an available serial killer in the Senate, who could be nominated, instead?

Furthermore, he also has invested in a metals company that supplies high grade chromium for surgical tools USED IN THE VERY PROCESS OF ABORTION!!! GASP.

He even gave an abortion doctor a life saving proceedure back when he was practicing medicine... he is truly cold-hearted and evil... surely Tom Daschle would be a moral choice for america's senate leader....

IDIOTS.

Should Republicans in the Senate be led by a man who profits from abortions?

I'll think I'll chime in here. I oppose abortion myself, but I could not possibly care less if (what you said). Does Frist personally perorm abortions or publicly advocate for more? NO! If we try for political purity, we're all screwed.

Logic? We don't need no steen-keeng logic!

It hurts our tiny brains.

I'm late to this thread. Can you save me a little time and point me toward the posts where it is established that HCA hospitals provide elective abortions on demand?

Because all I see in the article is this very carefully-crafted sentence:

HCA reportedly provides abortions to its customers.

"Customers", as if it were a retail establishment. Not "patients". Gets the reader thinking about "profit" immediately, doesn't it? Which could lead one to assume they've got an abortion clinic right there on the premises, with walk-in service.

It could be just as accurate to say "HCA reportedly performs abortions on its patients", so I question the choice of the word "customer".

And "reportedly"? Doesn't the author KNOW? That sounds a lot like a CYA adjective in case he's WRONG.

And this objective little phrase in the title: "Reputed For-Profit Abortion Provider". Does the author have something against a for-profit operation as well?

That's why I'm tempted to think of this as a hit piece. It tries right out of the gate to imply that Frist is profiting from abortions, when it seems clear that he is profiting from hospitals, and most hospitals will perform abortions that are medically necessary.

So before I trash Frist, I have to know that his family's hospitals provide abortion-on-demand, and this article just doesn't give me that.

Yeah, he will. You should repeat after me, "Majority Leader Frist, M.D."

It'll make the transition easier if you start now.

It's actually very understandable. How much money do you think these groups and magazines can make when the GOP controls all the government? Very little. They need conflict, so they create it out of whole cloth.

It's always interesting to see how long it takes for the Republicans to begin to self-destruct. It usually only takes a few days before they start to eat their own. Which is why the DemocRATS always win in the end.

When will the Republicans ever learn to stick together? Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Republican because we have some really STUPID Republicans who can't keep their mouth shut.

I didn't participate in this discussion last night, but if I remember some court cases over the last decade or so, any non-religious hospital which has an ob-gyn department and receives federal funding (Medicare and Medicaid) MUST provide medically necessary abortions. Period.

Once could just as easily tag Community Hospital in Indianapolis, the Humana Hospitals, or a host of others in every state in the union with this charge.

I very much appreciate your analysis. I noticed this little "reportedly" comment as well.

I used to think Mr. Jeffreys was a better reporter than this. I am quite disappointed in him, and in Human Events.

If Frist becomes Majority Leader, we have a good shot of holding the Senate, confirming pro-life judges, and reducing the number of abortions. If Lott stays, we probably lose the Senate, fewer pro-life judges get confirmed, and the killing spree continues unabated. Hmmmm, which is a better choice?
