Looks like a 56 or 57 DeSoto. I recognized the color as being Chrysler product.
That was from an era when you could tell the make of a car by just a quick glance.
Nowdays, if one is ever witness and needs to name the type vehicle, you just start with the "A's" and run through the list. :) (except the bug and Hummers)

Wow, that's what I call milk and cookies...a beautiful pic, and yummy enough to sway Santa even on a grumpy day...thanks, Miss Daisy, I think I'm home free...)

I had some friends who worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. I had the opportunity to go but chose not to make the trip. Lots of money to be made, but our girls yelling "Daddy's Home!" every night after work was more important.
Heard lots of stories about the frigid conditions up there by the crews.
Also had another co-worker who worked a season in Antartica. Now there was some chilling tales he told.

That fall, too, we had a three-month period when not one fresh vegetable of any kind was in the commissary - - depressingly barren section. Sounds hellish.. but somehow I bet that you made the best of things
and had fun despite all the privations.. and unimaginable cold..
(Hey, I'm in Houston, snow is something made up by greeting card companies.)

The fun part was the day I prodded the fellas to join me to create our own ice skating rink behind the base eightplex, our unit being in the middle of the building.
Laboriously banked snow into a large rectangle around the perimeter the length of the whole building.
A slap flare lit thawed the outdoor faucet sufficiently to get water flow, and when filled to the foot-high brim, that froze overnight to make a credible rink!
Checked out skates from Special Services, and in the evening after 7 p.m., (all back porch lights on for illumination and cheer) we'd kick off the children and have Adults Only, some of us (ahem) not too adept and prone to - - well be prone..:)))
Always had vats of hot chocolate to dole out.
Okay - in the Real World is OneUpManShip.
At another eightplex at the end of the playground, an astute copycat brought home his fire truck and cheated - pumped all the water into the rectangle, outdoing us.
It was WAHR, I tell you, so I organized our eightplex and two out front around the court into a Sledding Party!
Convoyed out to the Ski Slope - set up on the grills the never-ceasing vats of hot chocolate, marshmallows, hot dogs, munchies - and everyone who so desired took turns on the dozens of sleds.
As a young mother not wanting to break a leg, I went on the bunny slope on the sled.
Sitting at the bottom, with horror I saw coming down the Main Slope on sleds my two boys - 9 & 10 years old - at @ 70 mph!!!
LOL
No one had described to them how much speed they would build..:))
Fortunately, angels steered the sleds and slowed them without throwing them off.

"The malls have been so crowded this week"
I stayed away from the malls; I needed to get something for my sister and brothers and already knew what I was looking for. Then needed to go by a drug store for a couple of stocking stuffers, then the grocery store. So you see, I'm not really a glutton. I did some shopping Tuesday and it was a mad house.

If I decide to visit Alaska, I assume you are advising I go in July? I can't imagine it being dark for such a big part of the day.

Thanks JW - it's so much fun trying to find the finest sunrise for our honorees. Thank goodness so many folks enjoy the beauty enough to photograph it and post it for us to enjoy.

Good morning, I guess. Wow, only 2 gifts to go. I've been out shopping and contributing to the economy.
