Who rules in the Turkish peninsula; a nominally elected government, or an administration which must endorsed by the circle of 10 military generals and admirals -aka the "shadow government"?

The good thing with Soma, apart of it being perfect in general, is that it works no matter what mood ;)

The military will step in if an administration moves to convert the style of government to the sharia.. I'm all for that, seeing how the military is trusted by 91% of all Turks. That leaves 9% anti-secular.

Also consider that since all Turkish men are part of the military, the "oversight" by the military is really one by the people..

You guys shoulod allow your own military a freer hand.. That would help the judicial branch which is pretty much outnumbered by the political element...

Not meaning to be rude, but we're fine with the way America is designed.

LOL. Yeah, it'll be a fine day when Americans need to take political advice from Turks.

How long has it been since our last genocide?

No, you're right the US is designed very well. Yet as the Arab saying goes: "Me and my brother against my cousin, me and my cousin against the world," your response is not entirely honest.. Sorry if you felt insulted, I did not mean to.

I guess my weakness for the Turkish military and its role in politics is rooted in its high standards of professionalism. Our politicians don't seem to have those standards.

US politicians seem to be more responsible than Turkish ones, which is probably the reason for the system working as well as it does. We just need our mechanics (that would be the military) to keep an eye on the oil if you will..

Islam, a religion born of the desert, has created jihad and remains defined by jihad, its most important concept for the rest of the world. Through jihad Islam has emerged as a quasi-religious ideology of cultural and political imperialism that knows no natural limits to itself. Unlike the "just war" theory originated in Christian thinking, which has evolved into a secular concept instituted in international laws and codes, including the Geneva conventions, jihad is inherently religious as well as political: Islamic normative thinking does not separate the two. It has emerged from the desert and it perpetually creates new mental, psychic, spiritual, and literal deserts of whatever it touches.
