Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 Anyone Who Questions Sen. Murray Is 'Right-Wing Hater'

Left-wing Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., is not as wimpy as Republicans are when they're caught saying something naughty. She and her handlers are defending her praise of Osama bin Laden's supposed good deeds.

"Having a challenging and thoughtful discussion about Americas [sic] future reflects the best values of a free democracy [sic]; to sensationalize and distort in an attempt to divide is not," she said in statement today.

Murray's spokesman, Todd Webster, fumed, "This is being turned into a circus by the right-wing media outlets and fed by right-wing haters."

He must be thinking of the Democrat left-wing media outlets and left-wing haters who are accusing all Republicans and white Southerners of being "racist."

Asked if he included GOP state Chairman Chris Vance in that category, Webster said: "Absolutely. I include Vance and the right-wing media and the right-wing establishment."

Vance had said earlier, "It is absolutely outrageous and despicable to imply that the American government should learn a lesson from the madman who murdered thousands of American citizens."

Murray's comments "sent the message to these students that the United States somehow deserved or brought on the September 11 terrorist attacks," Vance said. "I think all decent people can agree that we most certainly did not, that this was an unprovoked attack of terrorism."

Webster claimed that Murray's comments were intended to get students to think about America's role in the world and why bin Laden is popular in many poor countries.

"This was not a dossier of the great works of Osama bin Laden. This is about how do we secure a better and stronger future for this country?" Webster said. "Do we close our doors and hunker down, or do we engage the rest of the world?"

In her statement, Murray is now dubbing bin Laden not a do-gooder but "an evil terrorist." She recalled that, oh yeah, he caused the deaths of thousands of Americans.

"While we continue to search every corner of the globe to destroy Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda network, should we also consider the longer-term issue of what else can be done to improve relations with all nations including the Arab world?" Murray asked. "How else can we bring America's values to those who do not understand us?"

'What Country' Is She From?

As for those who do not understand Murray:

Rep. George Nethercutt, R-Wash., a possible Senate opponent in 2004, called her comments "bizarre" and uninformed. "You have to wonder what country Sen. Murray has been living in since September 11th," he said.

Murray "seems to know more about Osama bin Laden's generosity and kindness than she does his hatred for America and his vow to destroy our country," Nethercutt said.

He called for a debate with Murray on bin Laden and other topics.

"I'm sure Washington state voters would like to hear more of Senator Murray's very strange view of America and the world," the congressman noted.

Angry readers have flooded the Web site of the Columbian, the Vancouver, Wash., newspaper that originally reported Murray's controversial remarks.

"Several readers said Murray should resign and pointed out that Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott lost his post when he made comments widely considered improper," the Associated Press reported.

You will get zotted for hypocrisy like this.

And the "Right Wing Establishment" ROFL!

Give me a break, on a good day the GOP couldn't run a lemonade stand as effectively as any 6 year old kid..

I honestly don't think the "Right Wing Establishment" could successfully demonize anyone but a Republican if it was their sole objective and mission in life.

Hey Patty, if you're so confident of your positions, why are you still scared to death of a debate with a Republican?

"Webster said. "Do we close our doors and hunker down, or do we engage the rest of the world?"

If there is a riot outside your home do you throw the door open and attempt to reason with the participants or do you lock the door and grab your gun? It ain't the best analogy but you get my drift.

It sounds like the negative response is getting to her. The public should keep up the attacks. We can no longer let the left get away with lying on this or any other issue. She needs to go. Hillary, Daschle, and Frank too.

Right wing hater? Is this a new political classification? Pardon my rather literal interpretation of the English language, and more especially the American idiom, but a "right wing hater" would be one who hates the right wing. Curious, but that would be Patty herself, who clearly hates the right wing.

I'm so confused. But this is probably the greatest clarity that Patty has achieved in all her time in Washington, and who knows for how many years before.

This is being turned into a circus by the right-wing media outlets and fed by right-wing haters."Sic!

Following their loose lipped leader, Murray" followers slip further into ambiguity's pits ... I'd say that "right-wing haters" are those that hate the right wing.

The party of hate, is the Democratic party.
