I don't think the draft could BEGIN before the essential exchanges were all over but the mopping up

Maybe not, probably not in fact. BUT, the mechanism is already in place. Their are lots of individual reservists who serve with the selective service system, one of the officers is a lady in my office at work. They would hit the ground running in 48-96 hours (my estimate). Everything is in computers and the letters would go right out. Still, basic training and advanced training takes time, and by that time the war will likely be over, one way or another.

You are correct, I was thinking they were not our ally in the begining of the war

My thinking.

Glad they could hit the road running.

Thanks. I looked at the 2002 moon phases and the 2003 moonrise/set times.

That may be true, the current situation may not warrant a draft yet, but we are definitely going to need more troops on active duty if we are going to keep peacekeepers all over the globe and engage in major conflicts in two or more theaters. Ironically, if "win" in Iraq and Korea, if it comes to that, we may require more troops because we will have to occupy those countries for at least a couple of years. Not unlike Great Britain during the height of her empire we already have a military upon which the sun never sets.

Of course the same sub that could sink the BB could also sink the carrier that the aircraft flew from. Unless you mean an Air Force strike from South Korean or Japanese bases.

A carrier doesn't have to drive right up to Yongbyong's doorstep to deliver the strike...but I was thinking Air Farce for this one.
