You could be right but never the less he went public in Newsweek and on the air with predictions of 50,000 dead. It brings into question his judgement on such matters. He served his country well and should be honored for that but he is not in the loop.

No, he's not in the formal loop, too many people still hate his guts for blowing the whistle on Vietnam in 71. you should note that Rummy is starting to sound like Hackworth with some of the publicised programs that he's cut (Crusader comes to mind). Hackworth is in commo with those who are in the loop, and anyone can predicate badly with bad info. My comments comes from Hackworth book HAZARDOUS DUTY,chapter on Persian Gulf war.
