Iraq will not be the key that frees the Middle East from its anti-Semite and anti-American stupor. It will however help to provide the framework for rectifying the situation. First the Afghanistan Taliban problem was fixed. Second the Iraq Baath Party problem is fixed. Third the [fill in the blank] problem is fixed. Fourth the .... This road is a long and winding one, but one which must be taken.
Western Europe and the leftist who run it, are a bunch of spoiled brats who have been protected by NATO's umbrella (read America) for decades. They have forgotten how easy it is for the Western Europian countries to stab each other in the back. I agree with this author that the Eastern Europian countries, who were recently freed from communist slave labor, will be America's best ally in the long run. They understand the Islamic threat from the south, the Communist threat from the east and the always present Fascist threat from western Europe.

Your post is an insult to Chamberlain. You are Right! I've read that Chamberlain actually increased defense spending after the Munich meeting. Just in case Hitler broke his word. We cannot say the same for Carter.

I have always thought of him as a conservative. I will pay more attention the next time he is a guest. If I am able, I will call in and ask him.

I just caught an interview of Hansen by Britt Hume on the Special Report news Segment this evening which I thought was quite good!!
Anyone else see it?
I sent an e-mail to Fox asking whether a vidoe or transcript would be availble of the interview!

Instead, a president who supposedly slurred his words and forgot dictator's names sensed the extent and threat of a rare evil, as well as the remedy for its demise that had escaped his supposed betters. And so far that has made all the difference in this strange war. Every time I hear this Gentlemen I am more impressed!

Ernest - I also saw the interview by Brit last night on FoxNews - excellent. This was the first time I'd heard Hanson's views and immediately sent me to the internet to research his articles. After reading several on National Review, I now want his book "Autumn of War". I thought his assessment of liberals floundering because they don't understand how our world has changed since 9/11 was brilliant. I also liked his predictions for 2003 - quick end to Iraq and Bush will be even stronger for 2004 election. Yes, I was impressed by Hanson.

Just wait till we get a look at all the "Made in Germany" stickers on Saddams WMD facilities. I hope Saddam owes those bastards a bundle that they will never collect.

"as discredited as segregationist Republicans were during the civil-rights movement" I remember the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 60s very well and I can't think of even one "segregationist" Republican from those days. Every one I recall violating the Constitution and supporting Jim Crow were all members in good standing of the Democrat party.

Exaggerating the collateral damage from the most precise weapons in military history, inflating by magnitudes of ten and more civilian casualties, spreading ad hoc conspiracy theories about pipelines, oil, and Texas corporations, raising doomsday scenarios of global anti-Americanism and nuclear hysteria in the Middle East all that is about the extent and quality of the current anti-war exegesis, itself mostly discredited by its previous and completely wrong predictions concerning Afghanistan. A BTT just to reread the above paragraph. I was going to add the stupefying (and inaccurate) sloganeering "no blood for oil" but I see he has even that one covered.
Gut-punch.

It's a good topic, possibly an accurate observation of the situation, a mediocre essay, and the writing is like fingernails on a blackboard.
