Question: Wayne Rogers (former M*A*S*H star) is a Stock Market Expert?

Watching Business News this weekend on Fox, I see one of the "experts" in the roundtable discussion is Wayne Rogers, the actor who starred in the TV series "M*A*S*H" in the early 70s.
What is up with that? Did he quit acting and become a broker? Unusual to see a Hollywood type get into a generally conservative area like Wall Street.
Can anyone shed light on this guy? Most of the M*A*S*H guys are uber-liberals: Alan Alda, feminist extraordinaire and Mike Farrel the smug anti-war clown, for instance.

Yeah, he's a big stock guy, but that doesn't make him a conservative.

Rogers became a very well connected developer in Southern CA during the 70's and '80's and he used to have a brief stint on Financial News Network with a show about entrepeneurs and such in maybe '89 or '90? FNN was bought out by CNBC in 1991.

I think he was also an investment banker during his M*A*S*H days.

A little off topic but on the money/biz shows this am did anyone else hear Hackworth call this administration the Gucci cowboys who don't understand the world? What in the world is wrong with this guy?

Gucci cowboys, huh? Well, for not understand the world, they're sure getting a lot of what they want done. I think it's Hackworth that doesn't understand this White House, along with a lot of other people.

He has for many years been reported to be a very successful and highly intelligent business entreprenur, a rarity among the Hollywood acting profession, which often attracts morons.

In Hollyweird one out of three isn't bad.

Here's a can't-miss tip: Any M*A*S*H episode from the "Wayne Rogers era" is worth watching. Wayne wisely left before things got preachy.

Hackworthless you meant to say.

In the 70's I lived in LA and was in the commercial mortgage business and I did some business with Wayne Rodgers. Very articulate and seemed to know what he was doing. Nice guy. I have lost track of him. I guess he is still in the business

I've followed Wayne on Cashin' In show for some time now and he's better than most analysts on Wall St. Of the eclectic group usually assembled for that show, he's actually amongst the best. His instincts on fundamentals are usually pretty good and he's fairly adept at technicals and market timing. He's not adverse to hedging alternatives such as bonds and gold but realizes the latter is mostly a fool's errand while valuable to take advantage of for a ride when there's fear in the marketplace. I'd give him a B overall. Supposedly he spent all of the off-set time during MASH buying stocks and other people would take note and ask him to do likewise for them, too, which started his latter day career as fund manager for Wayne Rogers Investments. On another note, if you'd like to see really foolish, CNBC had some goldbugs on as part of their end of the year stuff and they actually proffered that gold would have one or two spikes this year before diminishing with the improving economy because - get this - of the alignment of Jupiter with other planets.
