True. The elite in NYC can get permits when they want. The permit process is discretionary and easily abused. If you have the right connections you can carry a gun around the city with you. But if you're Joe Six Pack, you're simply out of luck.

Did you notice the report does not mention New York CITY......... although Brooklyn and Queens are on the Island, they are only referred to as LI when NYC's reputation is in question. If this was LI proper, Nassau or Suffolk county would get the rap.

Personally, I wouldn't live in New York. If one has to live in New York and needs a gun, and isn't penniless, some say one should inquire about the appropriate denomination greenback to attach to the permit ap and attach same. Unless one maintains New York public officials are incorruptible.
