Great WWII Movies.

My wife and I just finished "Band of Brothers" and "Guns of Navarone". Two WWII movies which we both enjoyed very much. Please post any recommendations that any of you have for more movies of the same ilk. Many thanks!

Thank you for those recommendations, x. A teacher introduced Tarkovsky's when "The Sacrifice" was on the screen in the late 80s. Burnt by the Sun by Nikita Mikhalkov is superb and is a reflection on the Stalin years. I'll be looking for your titles.

It looked like about half the crew survive the air attack at the sub base including the chief engineer.

I haven't read any mention of "Go Tell The Spartans", one of the earliest movies about Vietnam that was relatively unpoluted by the anti-war philosophy. Starred Burt Lancaster, very hard to find.

Is the movie "A Bridge Too Far" about the Market Garden fiasco?

I have the book of the same name [Das Boot] based upon a German war correspondents tour on a U-Boat and it is truely a must have for a good collection...
