Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno told reporters after she lost a bid for governor last year that she was done with politics.
Not so fast.
Reached by telephone at her Kendall home last week, Reno refused to rule out a bid for the U.S. Senate representing Florida should Bob Graham decide to run for president.
''I just think he should make a decision without other people commenting,'' said Reno, who narrowly lost the Democratic nomination for governor to Bill McBride.
Graham is expected to decide in a few weeks on his bid for the White House.
Asked repeatedly whether she would rule out a bid for Senate, Reno refused, offering in her trademark coy style: ``I'm not making any plans about anything at this point.''

Chalk up another Republican Senate seat if she gets the nom.
I see that Graham says he will be the next President. That is more proof(along with Reno wanting to run for Senate) that the dims are delusional and bordering on complete insanity.

What's the law in Florida? Does a sitting Senator running for president have to vacate their seat?

She gets it just fine. If Reno becomes Jane Q. Public, then she has nowhere to hide if and when she becomes the target of an investigation by the republican operated Department of Justice.
Hiding under the cover of a candidacy for democrat office allows her a soapbox to cry "foul" should such investigation occur.

Reno may not rule it out, but the voters sure will.

Theer has been no action in two years that would give any indication that Bush/Ashcroft have a bit of interest in seeing justice done in the matter of government corruption during the last administration, or any other time for that matter.

Did you even think about that statement before you typed? Not gonna happen. Never will.
Perhaps if we all just vote more R's in the house and senate, they will investigate. Waddya think? Good idea?

Excuse me!
The article "clearly" states that she was narrowly defeated in the primary for Governor.
Oh wait, the article also mentions "her trademark coy style"....
Never mind.
Miami Herald must be a POS rag.

Florida Politics Ping.
Summer, dear, it looks as though you may have some work to do in 2004. You haven't gone into retirement yet, have you?
Of course, knowing you political independence, you're more than just anti-Reno...it will depend on who the Republicans nominate, but I just imagine you'll find almost any alternative preferable to Reno! LOL!

Still, when Burton tried to find out the reasoning for not pursuing justice under Reno, it was Bush/Ashcroft that blocked release of that information, if memory serves.
You are quite right....Not gonna happen. Never will...at least under Bush/Ashcroft.
