Some of us don't have cable. (At least until the artificial monopolies go away.) Any info?

I've often been gratified at how "slant-free" the History Channel can be. Back during the 1994 debate over the "assault weapon ban" which was up for consideration then, when *every* other media outlet was hysterically flogging the gun control issue in one direction or other (mostly *one* direction), the History Channel scheduled a show on "guns in America". Oh, great, I thought, here we go again. But to my amazement it was *absolutely* unbiased. Not only did it not stump for one "solution" or other, it didn't even get near the "gun crime" or "gun control" issue. It simply was a really good history lesson on the use of guns through American history, showing when different models were invented and introduced, the tactical effects of those inventions, etc. etc. It was as non-political and matter-of-fact as a history of the sewing machine. Bravo.

I watched the 9-10 (Saddam's arsenal) and the 10-11 (US forces) segments. Produced and narrated by the "Scud Stud" of 91 Gulf War Fame (can't recall his name), it was the most riveting 2 hrs of tv I have ever seen. I watched bits of the other programming on Gulf War I earlier in the week, too. All in all, the entire series is the best stuff on tv in a long long time. For instance, for the segment on Saddam's arsenal, then interview people who really know stuff, such as Kenneth Pollack and two Americans who were on the UN Inspections regimen 1991--98.
