You don't disclose the sources because they are IN Iraq, and disclosure would probably result in their deaths, which is NOT a good way to treat someone who is trying to help us!

I think it makes sense that one would not blab everything known on TV...especially with the media actively working at cross purposes to the US government. There are a lot of lives at stake here, including your own. Jumping the gun, blabbing information, or betraying sources of information could not only result in a lot of military deaths, but could provoke an early terrorist attack here at home.

I have believed that we held off from going into Iraq, although we have had proof from the beginning, because we needed to get forces in place, we needed to replace munitions spent during the Afghan campaign, and we needed to find as many potential terrorists as we could here in the US.

His argument for security reasons is null because if he shows the source of the information after the bombs in Iraq, enemies like Iran, Usama, North Korea and others will learn these secrets.

Huh? If we've got people on the ground engaged in an active mission in Iraq, then the administration's got logical reason to dummy up about anything that could compromise that mission or get people killed.

It's obviously a matter of a "need to know" basis, and you, my friend, do not "need to know."

Have you read Bill Sammon's book, Fighting Back? During 9/11, that's exactly what Bush was doing....while he sat there, in front of children, in a school; he said he was concerned about reacting in a way that would cause the children alarm, of upsetting the teacher, of creating a spectacle for the reporters to witness/report while they stood in the back of the classroom.....all the while, the reporters' beepers were going crazy...and Bush well knew why.....he's a good man, who does nothing but think of others and what's best for our country. I'm so very proud to call him President.

Not only does Bush generally not do things off the cuff (as was said earlier), neither does he do things quickly (or in other words: prematurely).

Releasing all of the information that is known before he is at that absolute point of jump-off would have two effects that upset his planning process: 1. The resulting uproar from this information, which might even include the anthrax business, might be enough to force him to act before what he considers to be the proper time; 2. Early release of the information will also allow the opposition (of which there is plenty, even here in the U.S.) to construct an explanation, a justification, that would have a diplomatic impact on the ability to get support for the war internationally.

Bush wants full international backing, that much is clear.

That is a funny picture. These UNSCOM guys might as well not be wearing masks at all. Their rolled up sleeves and other exposed skin would let the chemicals right in their bodies if the warheads were leaking. For a lot of chemical weapons, wearing a mask but not a chemical suit would be no help at all. These guys might as well be wearing shorts, T-shirts, and flip-flops.

On the other hand, it looks like (and I love my president, don't get me wrong) this might have been leaked info in order to deflect the Michigan race preference story that would have dominated tonight's big 3 newscasts. We've known that these stockpiles exist. It was just a matter of timing for that knowledge to be leaked to the media. The time was right-on today. I suppose the question has to be asked (or maybe it doesn't; Mr. Bush's motives are beyond reproach in my book) was the timing designed to deflect negative karma developing from the affirmative racism of the U. of Michigan.
