UN's Ritter faced sex rap
New York Daily News ^ | 1/19/03 | Joe Mahoney

ALBANY - Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter was secretly prosecuted in Albany County in 2001 after he was snared in an Internet sex sting operation, law enforcement sources told the Daily News.

Ritter, who lives in the Albany suburb of Delmar, is now a high-profile critic of President Bush's war preparations.

He was arrested by Colonie Police in June 2001 on a misdemeanor charge after he allegedly had a sexual discussion on the Internet with an undercover investigator he thought was an underage girl, law enforcement sources disclosed on condition of anonymity.

The case was sealed, and Colonie officials declined to release the arrest records, explaining the matter was adjourned in local court in contemplation of dismissal.

The Schenectady Daily Gazette reported yesterday that Albany District Attorney Paul Clyne fired veteran Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Preiser last week for failing to inform him of the case against Ritter.

Clyne said that as a "sensitive" case, it should have been brought to his attention.

Ritter, who has made frequent appearances on network television after speaking to the Iraq National Assembly last year, could not be reached for comment.

The Federal Government has a history of using child sex to get cooperation out of foreign leaders and dignitaries, btw.

Search Alamo-Girls DownSide Legacy for information - I believe it is listed in there. It happened in the Pacific Northwest at an economic conference.

At least the one occasion they were caught. Providing underage girls and boys for the pleasure of dignitaries.

Laughable.

Had the administration want to embarass him, why wasn't this publicized at the time of the arrest?

And if it was a set-up and the evidence faked, why didn't Ritter fight the charges? It's certainly within his constitutional rights. In fact, if someone was falsely charged, I'd demand that all the evidence came out so people would be able to make an informed decision about his guilt or innocence.

You can't be convicted if the charge is swept under the rug. Conviction has nothing to do with guilt.

If no one was convicted for killing OJ's wife, does that mean she is still alive?

OK, assuming for the sake of argument that the Bush people did this, you are telling me that they had accomplices in a democrat county in Albany, New York? AND that they had him arrested on this in JUNE of 2001, BEFORE the attack on the WTC, BEFORE the Axis of Evil spech, and BEFORE Ritter became such a high-profile supporter of Hussein? By golly, those Bush people are not only efficient, they are clairvoyant!

Of course I'm sure he will claim he was framed by the CIA.

Do you (Pick one):

1. Believe this never occurs.
2. Believe this only occurs to people who are your political friends.
3. Believe this happens (a lot more than we realize).

I pick #3. You?

As I said, I'd want to see a complete timeline of Ritter's activities.

And WTC had nothing to do with Iraq per se. Bush knew he was going after Hussein when he took office. (Something I basically agree with - but that's off topic)

And yes, there's really only one party : Republocrat. So cooperation between agents of the government in different 'parties' is not surprising at the least. Except to the naive.

How would local cops conduct such a sting? And why would they do it? Further, what are the odds of nailing a local conviction on the internet???

Doesn't pass the smell test. They needed him compromised for some reason.

Blackmail.

And if it was a set-up and the evidence faked, why didn't Ritter fight the charges?

How would you fight the charges? Cops are all the witnesses, and you have no evidence to prove your innocence at all. Fight with WHAT? (This is why stings, especially of this type should be illegal)

I'd demand that all the evidence came out so people would be able to make an informed decision about his guilt or innocence

As would I, but he has a wife and kids - perhaps emotional blackmail was the game.

I don't pay blackmail. Ever. And those close to me know it, so it can never be done to me.

Is William Pitt GAY? I just don;t understand what everyone is talking about.

William Pitt is an ignorant POS whose claim to fame is the fact that he co-authored a book with Ritter. He was recently rebuffed by the ultimate liberal apologist, Aaron Brown of CNN. Being rebuffed by him is the kiss of death for a liberal and it made him just a little upset.

He is a diehard liberal that lives on Dumbocrat Underground and that truly idiotic site, Batcrap.com.

He enjoys some kind of celebrity status on both sites.

Google him and see just what kind of silliness comes up.

You might also freepmail DougFromUpland and I'm sure he'll be glad to provide you with a few references and links to the crap the idiot spews

Pitt claims his book is on the NY Times Best Seller list, but not knowing the title of it, I can't verify that.

Reading some of his crap (and it is crap) on the other sites I mentioned, I really don't see how he could get anything published.

He writes like a 8 year old with his/her first crush.

Perhaps his writing is influenced by Ritter.

Bottom line: Both Ritter and Pitt are sophomoric, treasonous, immoral, lying P'sOS, much like their hero, Billy Jeff 'Toon.

Also, surely you're not suggesting that our government doesn't frame people? We could pull 100 listings of FR alone, I'd imagine.

Or is this the ever popular - "Republicans wouldn't do that, but Democrats do" refrain that is seen here?

Why would Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Preiser attempt to hide this?

Easy. She was instructed to.

Seems like Bethlehem police would have been brought in since I'm assuming he was caught in the sting from his home.

They have been busting these perverts right and left in Spokane, WA. They way they do it is get the perp to meet at a motel room. The perp shows up expecting a 13 year old girl and is arrested. 100% so far have had condoms in their wallet.

There are some problems with the way you are looking at this.First, there has been a change in Scott Ritters position re Iraq over the years. What did he previously believe, what has he been everywhere saying for the last couple years?Critical to this might be determining when he first took the "Iraq is not a threat" stance. But,if this thing was being held over his head,by whom do the known facts suggest this was done? Also, why "compromise" him now?Bush doesn't need this clown compromised to proceed as he wants.

We know it was AFTER the Biden Committee testimony, and I am pretty sure it was WHILE Fox had him as a consultant

I'd need to see the earliest public statements counter to the administrations goals.

Also consider : if he honestly gave his opinion to officials in private, this would also be a reason.

How did he perform at the Biden Committee? I don't like the guy (nor particularly care about him), so I didn't watch.

Well, I have no proof that the Republicans weren't involved. On the other hand, you have no proof either.

It is quite easy to say that those who don't believe in your theory are hopelessly naive. That marginalizes everyone who doesn't agree with you.

I choose to be hopelessly naive, I guess. At least the people on my side have hope. If the world is as YOU say, then there is no point to anything...elections, politics, honor, patriotism...all are simply ways to dupe the citizen.

Thank you for your point of view, but I do not choose to follow that path.

"Pitt claims his book is on the NY Times Best Seller list, but not knowing the title of it, I can't verify that"

Al Gore's recent book was on the NY Times best seller list as well. Not that being number 2,000 or something makes a bit of difference.
