HELP - Explain it to me like I'm a 3rd grader - What is it that's good about "diversity."

I don't get it - President Bush says we need diversity - every politician says we need diversity - teachers - professors - deans and school boards say we need diversity.

I'm fairly informed about politics so there's no need to tell me that it's all hyperbole/rhetoric/disinformation etc. I'm actually trying to find out if there are really, literally some intrinsic benefits to "diversity" and what exactly are they?

There is no benefit to "diversity". Diversity is just another PC term used to divide the country. I.E. You are not an American anymore, you have to be an African-American or Italian-American. The opposite of diversity is unity.

Cultural and ethnic homogeneity are the natural state of human multitudes. Unless coerced, people tend to congregate and favor those 'like' them. 'Diversity' can only be achieved by force. There is no known benefit to 'diversity' other than allowing the 'diversity promoters' to make a comfortable living and feel good about themselves.

When people tell you how wonderful diversity is, ask them how come Japan is such an economic powerhouse. Last I looked there was not even much diversity of hair color in Japan, let alone racial diversity.

Diversity is nonsense unless it is voluntary and happens to us in the natural course of events.

I call it the "D" word it is so overused.Politicians only call for diversity to get votes. In their own lives diversity is not a factor.Not too many pols live in ethnically diverse neighborhoods but to show they are open minded they support diversity.The only time it enters their own life is in an ethnic restaurant.What hypocrites!!!

Diversity is a concept that can be used to generate hysteria among the suggestible and then control and exploit them. It's like bible-thumping about sin that keeps the collection plate busy. In this case the advantages are political and economic to people who can manipulate the issue. The issue also can be used by passive-aggressive personalities to inflict sadism upon society.

I will try to answer without being facetious. Diversity means more than race, it means diversity of thought. Honest disagreement and logical debate can result in real solutions to social and political problems. But this is where the theory breaks down, liberals don't use rational debate, they don't have logical thought processes.

I agree. When diversity promoters get to be in charge their egos and power hungers are fed. Keeping the sheep in line is what "diversity education" is all about.

I suppose it's rooted in a grain of truth, but only in the sense that if there was true equality and liberty among men, diversity would happen all on its own. Maybe that's too simplistic, I don't know. But the self-appointed puppet masters wouldn't be in charge then, and they don't seem to be going anywhere, so we'll never know.
