Back in July, we noted an article in which Bruce Bawer quoted a Norwegian professor, commenting on the statistic that 65% of rapes in Norway were committed by "non-Western" immigrants, mostly Muslims, as remarking that the victims had it coming. "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes," the professors said, because Muslims found their manner of dress provocative and "believe that it is women who are responsible for rape."

Multiculturalists to Rape Victims: You Had It Coming

Yesterday we noted a New York Times article in which reporter Sarah Lyall opined that a Turkish immigrant's murder in Sweden of his 26-year-old daughter because she "dishonored" the family by adapting to Swedish mores is a "tragic emblem of a European society's failure to bridge the gap in attitudes between its own culture and those of its newer arrivals"--not of Islamic immigrants' failure to conform to civilized norms. Writing in Partisan Review, Bruce Bawer tells a story that shows where this kind of thinking leads:

In September 2001 (only five days, in fact, before the destruction of the World Trade Center), the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported that 65 percent of rapes of Norwegian women were performed by "non-Western" immigrants--a category that, in Norway, consists mostly of Muslims. The article quoted a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo (who was described as having "lived for many years in Muslim countries") as saying that "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes" because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative.

One reason for the high number of rapes by Muslims, explained the professor, was that in their native countries "rape is scarcely punished," since Muslims "believe that it is women who are responsible for rape." The professor's conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite: "Norwegian women must realize that we live in a multicultural society and adapt themselves to it."

Any questions why the judge released the guy? I live in the Netherlands, and we got a judge (who now is the judge in the case of Volkert van der Graaf, the guy who shot Pim Fortuyn), who is a member of the PvdA (labor/socialists).

Not only that, but he was also involved in a scam with the forging of passports to let Iraqi refugees falsely claim asylumstatus in the Netherlands. He and his fellow-accomplices (other member of 'Refugeework, the organization were he was a member of the direction board) were not punished 'because they promised not to do it again'.

Do you think such a judge would punish such a rapist?

And believe me, Norway is even further down the socialists drain then the Netherlands is. There is no doubt in my mind that the judge in this case was appointed to set the rapist free to promote the multicultural society.

"We have certain standards of life that we believe are best for us. We do not ask other nations to discard theirs, but we do wish to preserve ours. Standards, government and culture under our free institutions are not so much a matter of constitutions and laws as of public opinion, ways of thought and methods of life of the people. We reflect on no one in wanting immigrants who will be assimilated into our ways of thinking and living. Believing we can best serve the world in that way, we restrict immigration."

It should be noted as well that the sentence was originally 60 DAYS. Sick, and pathetic don't even start to describe this idiocy.

"he took advantage of the situation."

Yes, he certainly did. I'd like to take advantage of that 10" butcher knife in my kitchen and fix it so this guy couldn't 'take advantage' of anyone again.

So you get a 12-year pass on rape when you immigrate into Norway? I'll bet Bill is packing now.

I don't know about multiculturists, but Horticulturists are not trying to legalize rape.

Thus, it is only excused when it is committed by a member of a group that is higher on the protected-group pecking order, like a Moslem, or an abortion-excusing politician.

There does seem to be a pecking order of protected groups. A Republican can get impeached for kissing women (Packwood), A Democrat can rape, demand sexual favors, even drown women and it's fine with the feminists. 5 illegal Mexicans ---democrat voters -- can rape a Cuban-American in Central Park ---likely Republican voter and the feminists never raise a voice for her. Muslim men can freely rape and even murder women and the feminists will never speak out.

"I guess the Muslim take on this is that the poor men can't control themselves when confronted with the irresistable sight of feminine beauty."

The lower class muslims think this way. In some urban areas like Dubai or Abu Dabhi men are regulary hauled into court and denounced in the media for sexually harrasing women. Women need to exercise some common sense when going into an area where muslim culture is dominant. When they wear dresses or shorts they have to realize they are offending the majority of the population and will be considered whores to many of the men.

Including the United States and Europe?
