I can't help but conclude that Ritter was blackmailed into siding with Bush's opponents. His current position is a 180-degree change from his public statements from a little while ago. But, thankfully, he's more of a liability than a help to Democrats now.

I suspect Ritter got cushy handling because of his relative fame and respect (at the time), an a connected local lawyer.
