I challenged you to a bet, based on your prediction. You said OK, and asked me to bookmark the thread. Then I laid out terms of the bet, and haven't heard you agree to them.
If you agree to them, I will, too. And post my prediction.
So do you have enough confidence to say yes to the terms? Or not?
Say yes, and I'll post my predictive date, and time. I promise, it will be less than 6 mmonths from now, which already leaves a year buffer for you.
Or are you gong to keep avoiding and deflecting?
Lost your confidence?

Just post a month and a year and quit quibbling.
To: MonroeDNA
You won't post your prediction? I wonder why?
To: Fred Mertz
lol! And YOU stay out of this, thank you very much.
I want an agreement from the satan guy. 'cuz he'll clinton out unless he is pinned down. He only has to agree to the terms, but he won't, cuz he knows he's wrong.
BTW, I already did post my prediction, on another thread.

Let me help you out as to why your too chicken to post a prediction.
You'd like to post a big, bold chest-beating prediction that we'll be going into Iraq to kick ass next month. But, in the back of your mind, you remember how everybody predicted that the last time we were in this situation -- just before Bush's UN speech -- and how Bush blinked and punted it to the UN and everybody had to eat their words. And, if that happens, you know we won't be attacking until fall at the very earliest, and I'm going to use your prediction as an example of the follies of substituting brain-dead chest-beating for analysis. That's why you don't want to commit yourself to a prediction. I've stuck my neck out and made a prediction, which you can can come back and hold up to ridicule any time you like -- if we go in next month. But you won't stick your neck out, because you're chickensh*t. Get the picture?

Great rant. :)
If you'll scroll down on the invade Iraq prediction thread, you'll see mine there, too. It's right there in front of you. Posted days ago. I predicted February 4th, 3 a.m Saddam time.
So do you agree to the terms, Mr. confident? I want my buck. Yes or no.
Or are you going to tap-dance some more?

Feb 4 2003 vs May 2004.
That wasn't difficult, was it?

You specify the month you predict we're going in. I don't want to specify a calendar month, because I think the kick-off will happen very end of January or very early February, so picking either month might miss it by a day or so.
Instead, I'd like to predict:
70% chance of starting +/- 3 days of January 31, 2003. (New Moon)
25% chance of starting +/- 3 days of March 3, 2003. (Following New Moon)
5% chance of happening after that or not at all.
So although I'm not picking a single month, I'm laying my money on 14 specific days, an even narrower range.
Needless to say, all bets are off (either way) if Saddam completely caves, abdicates, or dies.

...The President cannot make this kind of pitch to the American public without sacrificing key intel sources... Either the administration has the goods or they don't. The sources, if any, have been long gone and paid for their services. If this administration uses this excuse to play games then both Presidents Bush will serve but one term and that would be a tragedy.

Okay, we have two predictions for the date of a US invasion of Iraq:
Monroe DNA: February 3, 2003 The Great Satan: May 7, 2004
If you want to bet money, then screw the $1 nonsense. My terms would be that, if an invasion of Iraq starts before the mid point between these dates -- September 20, 2003 by my reckoning -- I donate $100 to FR. If the invasion hasn't started by September 21, 2003, you will donate FR $100.
Do we have a bet?

Hey harrowup, good to see you!
Are you out on parole or work release?
To: Fred Mertz
Hi, Fred; just slummin'. [:-)

"difficult for us to pursue this without military and monetary support"
What planet are these people from ...??
We have the best military in the world, and we support almost every country in the world. These people are idiots.

I totally agree with your post.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned (I admit I don't read every war thread so I may have missed it) is, if we don't go in now, it would demoralize the military. After months of being primed and pumped, it would be abusive to our troops, not to mention one heck of a letdown, not to go.
I have no doubt we are going...and soon. President Bush would not deliberately harm our military in such a fashion. That was Clinton's M.O
BTW, my husband was in Viet Nam. I remember, not just the months, but the years before he went. I remember how important it was to him. He was so focused on the mission that the reality of what was happening (leaving a wife and baby) didn't hit him until the carrier he was on left port. And that reality lasted until they left the harbor.

Thinking outside the box, why doesn't Bush go ahead and bring up the West Nile Virus connection? It seems like everyone at my plant is talking about it.
