Senate Votes to Halt INS Registration Program (Kennedy knifes America)
The Washington Post ^ | January 25, 2003 | Edward Walsh

Posted on 01/25/2003 9:47:27 AM PST by dagnabbit

Congressional sources said the NSEERS funding cutoff was included in the amendment at the request of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.). James Manley, a Kennedy spokesman, said the amendment "cuts funding until Congress has the information it needs to assess whether this is the most effective use of tax dollars in the war on terrorism."

This is outrageous. No honest person, having watched the Democrats perform since 9/11, can deny that they put party interests, identity politics, and all the other shibboleths of the Democratic Party before the security of the American people. These pathetic wimps would just give the country away, if they could, and be happy to do it.

Let's tell Teddy what we think of him:

My email to Kennedy:

Hon Edward Kennedy
United States Senate
Washington DC

Dear Senator Kennedy,

I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that you are working to gut security measures designed to keep track of young men who originate in countries that sponsor terrorism. I simply could not believe it.

This is outrageous. No honest person, having watched the Democrats perform since 9/11, can deny that they put party interests, identity politics, and all the other shibboleths of the Democratic Party before the security of the American people. One is tempted to conclude that Democrats would just give the country away, if they could, and be happy to do it.

Sincerely, etc.

NO. I can and will blame GWB. He can sign an executive order to get the National Guard on our borders and to deploy other forces. But he hasn't, why?

For one reason, because CONGRESS controls the purse strings. I'm sure there are others, like going through channels to make laws so they can be inforced rather than by fiat.

Unless you are a resident of Mass. Kennedy will never accept or see your email. Better to send a letter or FAX. Phone calls also work.

<< Isn't it sad that the worst Kennedy of all seems to be hanging around this long? >>

Only for him and his!

The rest of US reckon the drunken gangster bastard should live forever.

And, like all terminal alcoholics, wake up often choking on his own vomitus and afloat in his own excrement.

"
During national emergencies, however, the President reserves the right to mobilize the National Guard, putting them in federal duty status. While federalized, the units answer to the Commander-in-Chief of the theatre in which they are operating and, ultimately, to the President."

Our borders are not protected for POLITICAL reasons.

There is, also, the Portland 5+. I say 5+ because they have 5 in custody, a 6th they know has left the country, and they believe there are one or two others.

"Kennedy basically slipped the funding cut-off into the Senate bill without much notice, "

This and not just normal pork is why riders should be outlawed. A bill should stand on it's own without attachments.

Let's take it easy! Just because fat ass Teddy sneaks something through doesn't mean it's law. The House has to approve it and the President has to sign it. I don't see either of these things happening.

Just the fact that the sleazy swimmer would try a stunt like this pisses me off!

"The amendment is as follows: (Purpose: To make funds available for the Entry Exit System) On page 95, line 7, strike ``$3,076,509,000'' and insert the following: ``$3,241,787,000: Provided, That of the amount appropriated under this heading $80,200,000 shall be available only for the Entry Exit System, to be managed by the Justice Management Division: Provided further,

This is the equivalent of an after-the-fact, line item (or line-phrase) veto for an existing or proposed law... The house should insert the language for Bush to have the same line-item-veto for budget items. It will never pass conference committee, but will point out the hypocrisy of the Kennedy Amendment and stop this nonsense. It will also focus public opinion on the fact that, if this is not considered mickey-mouse, then a line item veto is not either!
