Rumors leave lives in limbo Experts say Peterson case shows risks of premature judgment.

In the search for a missing Modesto woman, about the only thing police will say publicly is that her disappearance on Christmas Eve is suspicious and they suspect foul play. And her husband isn't a suspect. Yet Scott Peterson, a 30-year-old fertilizer salesman, finds himself immersed in a swirl of suspicion that began soon after the day he said he last saw his pregnant wife, 27-year-old Laci Peterson.

Oh, sure. In your spare time.

on line of course!

In another chapter Emsley depicts the development of some of the most deadly poisons known—nerve gases including sarin, soman, tabun, and “the ultimate nerve gas” VX and their antidotes. He also discusses organophosphate insecticides (OPs). In the chapter titled “Murder” he describes a number of famous cases of poisoning carried out mostly by spouses and mostly in England, while in the chapter, “Fortunes from Phosphorus,” he surveys its production from the 18th to 20th centuries. During the second half of the last century its peaceful use in making phosphates for detergents sent its production soaring to more than a million tons per year. http://chemed.boisestate.edu/bibs/0007003/730179gk.htm

Please, this is the NEW FR.

These people LIVE for emotionalism and attacking others without facts, as well as sopping up what ever crap the mainstream media drenches on them.

Wasting your breath :)

I remember this well, I lived in PV at the time.

At first I was shocked and appalled but after the dead, sacrificed rabbits and being taken offsite to be photographed and tortured came out I said 'wait, this couldn't happen without outside people seeing something'. I started disbelieving the entire espisode and wondered who reasonable people could take the truly lurid reports at face value.

It would be more comforting if his life were in limbo over his missing wife and mother of his unborn child than over rumors.

Far better that a thousand guilty men go free than that one innocent person be sent to jail -- or worse -- EXECUTED.

Many a corrupt, venal DA has built a successful political career by making a patsy of some vulnerable target

Oooooh. I hope you have asbestos Underoos on. Posters on this thread will be after you with flamethrowers...

Just some 'tinfoil' for consumption.

If I was in charge of a corrupt goverment, and I was someone like Bill Klinton, for example - it'd be pretty easy to use government agents or your own personal mob, to kill someone famous (or their wives) (or someone not so famous) and create a news sensation that controls the headlines for the sake of the hormonal crowd.

(Now this 99.999999999999% likely doesn't have anything to do with this case, of course - just something to remember.) Bread and Circuses I say!

What's one life to the political ambitions of a President? Klinton killed dozens (in bombings) to keep an interns oral actions out of the papers...

You've got these talking heads who are constantly analyzing and speculating and so on," he said.

Today, Wood says, if a handsome, wealthy, married politician, driving home from a party, got in a car accident that killed an attractive female passenger, the politician's career would end then and there.

In 1969, however, Sen. Ted Kennedy's career was only stalled by the accident near Martha's Vineyard that killed campaign worker Mary Jo Kopechne, Wood noted.

FROM THE STORY ABOVE!

UNLESS YOUR A KENNEDY OF COURSE!

ok so you don't want to play!

Parting thought and its my own opinion if he did it this is how she died.
.......
When anhydrous ammonia — legally used as a fertilizer — hits the skin, it inflicts a painful, freezing burn.

A third of Riffell’s body was burned. The moisture-eating gas burned his throat, lungs and eyes. The burns on his left arm and back were the most severe, said his doctor, Dr. Kenneth Larson of the St. John’s Burn Unit. They penetrated all the way through his skin.

I must repeat.......taking as gospel information from radio show callers is risky business. People do have an agenda......there is no way on earth to verify the information at all. Remember, they 'claimed' to have grown up with Laci.

"Privacy isn't an enumerated right,"

Careful, careful, careful.

You are going down the road the anti-federalist feared the most and subsequently refused to ratify the new Constitution in place of the Articles of Confederation.

It was James Madison, who penned the 9th amendment, that satisfied, as you have proven, the well grounded fear that sometime in the future there would be those who would state the only rights citizens have are enumerated rights.

Amendment IX:

"The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights, SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED TO DENY OR DISPARAGED OTHERS RETAINED BY THE PEOPLE."

Every citizen has the right to privacy either via the 4th amendment or the 9th amendment.

"...with the authorities..."

When did the "police" become "authorities?"

How do you have "authorities" in the land where there is supposed to be a presumption of liberty and innocence?

Using the word "authorities" implies authoritarian power and control.

The definition of "authoritarian" is:

"Characterized by or favoring absolute obedience to authority, as against individual freedom. Of, relating to, or expecting unquestioning obedience."

Perceptions all too often, become reality.

If people have the right to think and say (1st Amendment) what they will, then you can't stop people from talking about you and looking at you even if you don't like it. Your reputation is the summation of what others freely think and say about you - their thoughts are their property not yours. While you can ask to have your privacy respected, as did the girlfriend, there is no legal requirement to do so. Decent people would accord her that wish, barring certain developments.
Free speech is an enumerated right, and societies with it benefit more by it than those without, despite it's occasional misuse. When free speech reduces privacy, the "conflict" should be resolved in favor of the enumerated right (our very first one). We are free to boycott, shun and shame persistent abusers (tabloid media)but not outlaw them. Outside of about two feet, privacy is a civil courtesy only, albeit a very valuable one.
My original comment was reacting to the suggestion by the libel lawyer "that maybe there should be a way to get an official declaration of innocence for those who have never even been arrested." How exactly that would work? To declare someone "innocent" would require more police work then is feasible.

YOUR adultery doesn't affect ME in the least --

Au contrare.
It affects all of society.
And, if you believe in the God of the Bible, adultery is on par with murder (i.e.: the Ten Commandments).
It is extremely damaging to the bedrock foundation of our society - the family.
The fruits of our lackadaisical attitude toward adultery are evident throughtout our increasingly decadent culture.
