Hopefully the Senator is not on blood thinner. But your experience is not an unusual one. Blood thinners are known to have this effect and under HMO plans it is difficult to monitor patients with these complications.
Still, I am glad that your loved one is recuperating. Physical therapy is difficult isn't it?
I hope the Senator is OK also. But, if he is unable to recover full function, the GOP can not pontificate. Strom was 100 years old and still going just last year.
My prayers are with the medical team this day. The matter may be out of their hands at this point. If the clot was successfully drained, the issue is really up to God.

Notice how the story leaves out the date of the accidentSpeed readers don't always catch everything. ;-)
From the article:
Sen. Frank Loutenberg underwent surgery Sunday morning related to a skiing accident in Aspen, Colorado a month earlier.

Was his slurred speech during the campaign just another manifestation of this illness?

I really admire people of this age who are still active. My cousin recently had an addition built onto her house by a man from her church. He did the work single-handed. He's 96.

Can anyone help me find a job in PA?Sorry but jobs are scarce in some parts (I'm out of work near Scranton). You would have to fight us for the few jobs there are.
Besides, do you really think Rendell is any better than McGreevey? (Although we at least have a Republican senator and a Rino.)

One indicator that a Senator is unable to function is when he/she begins to exhibit a smidgen of humility and becomes cooperative with other branches of government in moving things forward for the good of the country, instead of being a road block.

What is the procedure for determining if someone as 'able to function' in the Senate? I keep thinking of the infamous scene when Lott saluted Thurmond. Strom was sitting in a wheelchair............looking like the embalmer misplaced him.

My thoughts are with the Senator and his family and I pray he has a full recovery. I think the Laut is an evil man - but I would prefer he gats taken down by political means.

Plus it took the Lout a month to go to a doctor. In old age sturborness can be deadly.
My father turned 95 in September, fell and hit his head on a kitchen cabinet. He refused to go to a doctor even though as a retired Federal employee (IRS) he had what is probably the best medical insurance in the world.
Died of a hemotoma Nov. 19, 2002.

I am suspecting that there is no written procedure and that this would almost have to be an impeachment type meeting where the majority agree he is 'unfit'. Frank would fight this tooth and nail...but I would guess that the NJ Dem party and the governor would prefer that he step to the side and get a real young Dem into the office.

It was ugly to witness. She is now 82 and doing ok.It is so heart rendering watching what happens to people when something happens to their brain.
I am so glad to hear your sister has done so well.
Every day I live on pins and needles worrying that my husband will have a bleed again. With him being on Coumadin for his heart valve they have to monitor his blood about every two weeks to make sure it is not to thick or to thin. If to thick it could build up on the valve and break off and cause a stroke. If to thin it could bleed like it did a year ago.

Sunny Bono ping. My thought too. How many senators and congressmen have been attacked by trees? Won't someone get suspicious eventually?

Wasn't there talk of Lautenberg suffering from Alzheimer's before the election? Could this skiing accident be a cover story?
