Mine, too--especially because of the Israeli astronaut on board. But even if it was an accident, Saddam and the Palestinians will be celebrating.

I am so sorry to hear this. As one person has said, it's on the ground one way or another by now. It's a glider and can't stay up.

My thoughts are with the men/women and their families.

NASA Loses Communication with Shuttle Ahead Landing
Sat February 1, 2003 09:27 AM ET
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (Reuters) - The U.S. space agency NASA said it lost contact with the space shuttle minutes before a scheduled landing on Saturday as it crossed the United States with seven astronauts on board.

The shuttle's landing was overdue after it was planned to arrive at the Kennedy Space Center at 9:16 a.m. EST. NASA officials lost contact with the orbiter at about 9 a.m.

I live 120 miles from Dallas and heard the noise clearly. Couldn't figure out what it was. Now we know. Very, very bad news.

Columbia was 25 years old, and carrying a 40,000 lb. spacelab. Inflight breakup is the most likely scenario.

Saddam and the Palestinians will be celebrating.

If they do, they will only make the world angry at them again.

If anything flew off at re-entry speeds, it's grave indeed.
