U.S. too wise to fall for another Clinton
College Standard Magazine (U. Albany) ^ | 2/3/03 | Julian Starr

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Some affectionately dub her Hitlery, others Madame Opportunist. In Washington, D.C., her office says "President-in-waiting" and she visited our lovely downtown campus to appear on "Hardball with Chris Matthews" Wednesday November 20th.

Clinton may have wagered that the Democrat fortress of Albany would make for smooth sailing along the Hudson, much smoother then her real home state of Arkansas with its more Conservative crowd. While Clinton did not have to fear the Republicans in the audience since they were soundly booed by the overwhelmingly Democratic crowd prior to her appearance on stage when host Chris Matthews inquired about party loyalty before the show commenced. Even the "Naderites" seemed to have been granted a greater standing ovation in the crowd then the Republicans when Matthews asked how many of them were in the hall.

The left however is hardly a monolithic block as it may have once been, the solid South is no longer Democrat and even the "Naderites" have trouble coming to the aid of the Clinton wing of the party when it would suit their agenda. Perhaps those fierce elements in the radical left are simply more principled then their Democrat counterparts or maybe the Democrats have simply taken for granted their historical support base. The question of Gay Marriage came up as one of Chris Matthew's rapid fire questions and just as Senator Clinton said she would oppose such Marriages in our State was she met with resounding boos.

The time for left of center Democrats to break ranks with their party is at hand, the Democrats have sold out their supporters in order to win political favor with the increasingly popular Bush administration. We may even see the rise of "Bush Democrats" in the tradition of the "Reagan Democrats" of the 1980's; however one should not get too easily excited by those prospects. In the effort to not be left out in the cold, Democrats have forsaken and even condemned their old base. The warm and fuzzy tree hugging, protesting, pot smoking liberals are what made the modern Democratic Party tick and now they are viewed as a liability.

While the Terrorist Left which is really the Green/NYPRIG/Communist/Anti-Jewish Axis of hate made a complete mockery of their own message by being outrageously disruptive during the event or as their Fuhrer Leonid Brezhnev would call it "voting in the streets". They have turned off normally susceptible people from their points of view by not adhering to our contemporary decorum. The 60's for better or worse are over, get over it. Do yourselves a favor and market your ideas in a way to steal more votes away from Democrats or if you would just take back the damn party maybe you could do our wartime President a favor and make yourselves more identifiable.

Maybe the best hope for the Terrorist Left is to form an alliance with the Buchanan Right since both are anti-patriot act and anti-war. Politics makes for strange bedfellows and these are strange times. Unfortunately the Terrorist Left has few positive planks to their platform or any conception of morality that the Buchanan Right wouldn't admonish. When asked about affirmative action, Hillary had no choice but to nod her head in support. For cronies cannot afford to alienate the solidly Democratic "Americans of African Ancestry" vote. [I view all Americans as Americans, unfortunately many prefer to identify their fellow man by color of his or her skin before all else]

The day the Democrats sell out "minority" interests is the day they will terminally be a minority party. When asked about Pro-Life judges she waffled a bit, knowing full well that the State is receiving greater numbers of Pro-Life Catholics coming up from Latin America.

By the time she runs for President those constituencies will be handsomely the margin of victory in California, Florida, New York and Texas all with not so marginal electoral college votes. We can not fault Hillary for being a politician or for not representing all New Yorkers, she never stated she would accomplish any wonders for our State when she was campaigning for her seat, so in that warped respect she was honest for perhaps one of the few times in her life.

For another Clinton to become President being only accidentally truthful will not cut it, we are a wiser and more cynical electorate that demands Reagan like leadership with Kennedy like looks. McGovern and Mondale have forever been placed in the ash heap of the political graveyard; Hillary's time to meet her political doom is soon at hand.

As long as stupid people are still allowed to vote, I wouldn't be so sure.

This does bring a sweet smile to my face while eating lunch. :-)

McGovern, Mondale, Both Clinton's and Edward (the fossil) Kennedy along with that creepy crone Helen (mumble mumble) of the White house press corps. They all need to go to the trash heap. Hillary needs to get the respect that Dukakias gets.

We should NEVER underestimate the mushy middle of the electorate. They are the folks who determine the outcomes. They have also proven that they can be easily manipulated by such silliness as this:

A big bump for a nice post on the greatest U.S. President of the 20th century. I'm proud to say I voted for President Clinton twice, but regret he did not have a Democratic Congress to support the President's ideas for the last 6 years of his term.

I will take this opportunity to relay my observation of the day about Hillary:

Having 'The Rodham' in the Senate is reminicent of when she was part of the dump-Nixon crowd. I am sure she is just chomping at the bit to get her fangs and claws into our President.

BTW - does anyone have a list of the presidential line of succession?

The dumbing down of the American Electorate. It is definitely possible and probable that lightning will strike again and again and again. As long as dim wits hear what they want to hear, they will pull the voting booth curtain aside with a big toothy grin and contribute one more shovel full to the erosion of the foundation of the potentially greatest attempt by man to govern himself fairly and honestly.

Thanks. I just did a google search and found something similar. I just thought it would be intersting to see where the Rodham might fit. Looks as though she'd have to be the head of the Senate and the democrats would need to be the majority party . Well, she's also have to get rid of more than a dozen people ahead of her.

Oh No!! I am thinking just like her. I better put on my teflon-aluminum hat pronto!

This is the same Mrs. Clinton whose husband pardoned the FALN terrorists? The same Mrs. Clinton who kissed Mrs. Arafat?

NEVER underestimate the stupidity of NY voters. And don't forget, the nation was stupid enough to vote BJ into office the second time.

I once knew a guy who recruited for a technical school. His bosses encouraged him to enroll anyone, no matter how menta;lly challenged. He could not bring himself to do this, and so made up a test. He would ask "How many seconds are in a minute and a half?" 40% of the applicants failed. For over 30 years we have "idiot proofed" everything. Now I fear there is a surfeit of idiots.

Gore got more votes than Bush. The last time the republicans got more votes than the democrats, was in 1988, 15 years ago. 2000 was a fluke, you cant expect to win the electoral vote when you keep losing the popular vote. They keep making more and more democrats each year, and letting in a few million more democrat immigrants each year.

The longer hillary waits, the more votes she will get.

The longer the recession lasts, the more likely she will run in 2004, instead of waiting until 2008. If unemployment lasts until the end of this year with no major hiring or building of new factories, any democrat could win in 2004.
