In the new issue of Doublethink, a Washington-based right-wing quarterly, Hitchens reveals that if the election were today he'd support President Bush -- never mind his recent Vanity Fair puff piece about Democratic hopeful John Edwards. "I don't believe in [Edwards]," Hitchens tells Doublethink interviewer Tom Ivancie. "I mean, I told him I wouldn't vote for him. . . . Because I'd vote for Bush. The important thing is this:
Meanwhile, Hitchens suggests that old nemesis Bill Clinton was a CIA plant at Oxford, where both were students in the late 1960s. "I think he was a double," Hitchens says. "Somebody was giving information to [the CIA] about the anti-war draft resisters, and I think it was probably him. We had a girlfriend in common -- I didn't know then -- who's since become a very famous radical lesbian."

"We had a girlfriend in common -- I didn't know then -- who's since become a very famous radical lesbian." The last part is proof that the story is true! They have had a tendency to do that, haven't they?

High-visibility students like Rhodes scholars did not go roaming around Eastern Europe in those days without the CIA noticing. Hitchens is speculating on what really happened, but the probability of some contact with the CIA is very high.

That is funny. Can you imagine x42 skimmin' his iron hat, or taping a radio to the bottom of his shoe?

"We [Clinton] had a girlfriend in common...who's since become a very famous radical lesbian." Yup, that would do it.

And no one will ever wonder why.

CIA? doubtful.
SOB? definitely.
To: ConservativeMan55
Nonsense! I remember some Soviet government detector telling Bill Buckley on his PBS show some years ago that KGB was like a General Motors, compared to the CIA - a corner gas station! Do I have to remind you that the CIA declared the Soviet Union an economic powerhouse in 1989?!

Besides I can't picture either as CIA spies, more like bathroom stall spies.

*splutters on the water she would be drinking if she weren't too lazy to get up and pour herself one*
WHAT?!
I could see that she was their girlfriend at the same time (heh) but I think this sounds more like someone jealous of an old flame...

(The Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question is, of course, 42.)
To: ConservativeMan55
He got the initials wrong. It wasn't CIA. More likely KGB.
To: ConservativeMan55
If Clinton was a double agent, he was selling out the CIA to the KGB.

Does this wrap back into the Mena story? Why would the CIA choose Arkansas for its distribution point?
