SENATE DEMOCRATS INCAPABLE OF HONESTY

Last night, on the floor of the United States Senate, Senator Chuck Schumer (D, NY) vowed to spend weeks on the floor blocking the vote on Justice Miguel Estrada, an Hispanic nominee by President Bush to the D.C. Circuit Court.
Today, the Democrats on the floor of the Senate have stated that they have made no official decision on a filibuster, and that there is no filibuster currently under way to block the vote on Justice Estrada.
This less-than-clever and unpersuasive double-speak is not only reminiscent of the deeply shameful Clinton era, but it is also clearly indicative of something which the Democrats in the Senate seem yet to be in denial bout, and to have a great deal of trouble acknowledging.
That is that, in November of 2000, and again in November of 2002, the American people spoke clearly and unequivocallythat they were fed up with the years of the Democrat double-step, and handed the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate to the Republicans.
The Democrats can (and likely will) continue to ignore the unambiguous message they have been sent by the American voting public, but may they know that they do so at the peril of their partys credibility with the voters.
They can trot out Liberal editorials which spout lies about Justice Estrada. They can cite contradictory evaluations about Justice Estrada by a child-pornography supporting former administrator. They can force a filibuster even as they claim that there is no filibuster taking place.
But they do not fool the voters. They fool only themselves
and maybe thats a good thing for America.

I earnestly hope that you are correct. The realist in me doubts that this will be the Left's demise.

They have tied their ship to the Clinton Anchor and will wind up just like the Titanic! Just like the Titanic, they refuse to look around at the signs until the damage is too great to be ignored...then we'll see who jumps!

It needn't, and won't, be their demise.
What it will be is a further reinfocement of the majority public opinion that the Democrats haven't the integrity needed to securely pilot our Nation through these dark, uncharted waters in these troubled times.

The DemonRat Party Is Fatally Corrupted By POWER LUST!!!

In the weeks ahead, the Democrats will have the unenviable task of backing the Republicans on obvious matters of National Security, while they try to choose their arenas for fighting the Republicans on those areas where public opinion seems to poll indecisively.
The problem is that they are now operating in reaction-mode, with no clear ideology to support either their ideas or even their own existence.
Voters like to support people who are for what they are for. They are not generally persuaded to cast their votes based upon what one opposes.
If you become trapped in the rut of defining your party by what you oppose, the public can be helped to recognize this as what it is... having no clear statement of what you stand for.
Trust the Republicans to help the Demo's paint themselves into this bleak corner, and then hammer it come election time.

Sen. Frist needs to change the Senate rules regarding a fillibuster. Get rid of the "Cadillac Fillibuster" that they have now and bring back the REAL fillibuster they formally had.

granted they spoke in 2000 but I don't think it was as clearly as you seem to state. Remember that President Bush just got enough EC votes to win and maybe lost the majority voted depending upon fraud.... The Republicans lost seats [5] in the Senate and came out with a tie.... so not such a clearly define win for the Republicans...

I can't wait to see how Frist decides to handle this skullduggery. The best man for the job, and light years ahead of Trent Lott.

Handing the Republicans the White House, The House of Representatives, and the Senate.
Argue the percentages if you like, but the shame that Clinton and his cadre inflicted on this Nation is an insult felt even by those who applauded his debauchery because it so justified their own depravity.
Deep in his soul, even the worst sinner knows that he is wrong, incapable though he may be of consciously voicing that fact.

Not arguing the percentages... only stating what happened, not what someone wanted to happen. This coutry is fairly evenly split and thus you'll get an elected government that will be split..... The people swing back and forth and presently seem to be swinging to the right somewhat, which is good imo. If it continues through the 04 elections, maybe there will be enough elected to make some meaningful changes..... until then we must do the best we can.

Not much has changed since January 2001, except that The Rapist is now calling in plays from the sidelines. This is a good thing for the GOP.

I apologize for assuming the deductive abilities required to read between all of these lines. Let me put it more simply:
That is that, in November of 2000, and again in November of 2002, the American people spoke clearly and unequivocallythat they were fed up with the years of the Democrat double-step, and handed the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate to the Republicans.
...or...
in November of 2000... the American people... handed the White House... to the Republicans. ...in November of 2002... the American people... handed the House of Representatives, and the Senate to the Republicans.
It does takes a working brain to figure all this complicated stuff out.

The 'Pubbies are going to make mincemeat out of these captainless, rudderless, gainsaying imbeciles in the months between now and November 2004. This will be a Conservative joy to watch.

President Bush, a publicly admitted Born Again Christian, and the Republicans will bring us back onto the right track. Amen, and may God again bless America.
