WASHINGTON - A new poll says Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton could sweep the entire field of Democratic presidential candidates if she wanted to challenge President Bush in 2004 - fueling talk she's leaving the door open to doing just that.

Go, Hillary, go! I'd love to see her top out the Dem ticket. Maybe with Sharpton as VP.

Heheh.

The catch is that the poll shows Bush would beat any Democrat, including Clinton. He'd defeat her by 52 to 41 percent. Lieberman would do a bit better, losing 49-43.

The poll also had her doing worse than Kerry and Gephardt, and about the same as Edwards (whom few people have heard of at this point.) Polls have consistently shown her to be a top choice of Democrat voters, and an also-ran among all voters. This is a good thing.

Quinnipiac did a similar poll in December of New York registered voters. Bush actually beat Hillary in New York by a few points.

While I wouldn't count the Witch out yet, she has a long way to go.

Don't ever count her or her deadbeat husband out. For some reason they can make even somewhat smart people fall for their smooth talk!! I have watched and watched them, and they are the most evil minded people, but then a lot of people here in America will line up right behind them. I just don't think you can write her off just yet, and I think if the opportunity lends its way she will step in in 2004. denco

Maybe I'm whistling past the graveyard here, but I have to wonder if some other particularly ambitious Democratic candidate, wouldn't gladly pull out all stops against her in a way that would make a Freeper proud and totally expose her during the primary season. Even if she gets the nom, making her easier pickins' for Dubya. Sort of like what happened with Massachusetts, Willie Horton and Mike Dukakis

"Mark my words. If she is ever stupid enough to run, it will be 60 days max before the floodgates open and her entire evil life starts getting splashed across the front pages of every newspaper and web page in the country."

Kind of agree with your thinking, however being "drafted" at the Democratic convention will reduce her exposure. Such a draft also reduces the amount of time she has to spend on the issues and face to face interviews and debate.

I assume you are just reporting what you've heard. You don't actually look at Hillary's butt...right?

She began raising her stature even further when she started blitzing Bush

So THAT'S how you raise your stature!

Pathetic

Don't ever count her or her deadbeat husband out.

What about a debate between "W" and BJ Bill. Since "W" knows the real skinny now that he's been in office, everytime BJ Bill tells a whopper, Bush could call him on the carpet, correct him, and then give the truth. Now who will the public believe? "W" or the sinkmeister? Hmmmm

Given that the left will do ANYTHING to get back
into power. And given the lefts perchance for voter fraud,
... the thought of Hillary running is frightening

"... the thought of Hillary running is frightening "

Amen to that. What makes us think that if she runs in 2004, that W won't have an accident or a health problem or a friendship with Strom?

Posting here on FR won't be enough to stop Mrs. Clinton.

Your ignorance of the American media is astounding.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she responded to the wishes of the voters and forced herself to run for 2004.

FWIW inside beltway info from Larry Nichols says she is planning to run for the 2004 presidency. Count on it. He claims she is being given the issue of jobs that the other dems are for the most part ignoring so far.

No. There is one thing, and one thing only, that will make "mainstream" journalists override their natural allegiance to the DNC, and that one thing is the chance to Make History (and thus Become Famous and Win a Pulitzer in the process).

Boy, are you lost.

There is only one thing that matters to the owners of the corporate media empire and that is POWER, the ambitions of individual journalists notwithstanding. Any reporter who tries to run that story will be crushed like a bug.
