US build up in Gulf is disguised build up for North Korea

Posted on 02/08/2003 10:40:21 AM PST by woodcraftsman

Has anybody else had the thought that our military buildup is really one geared toward North Korea? I'm starting to think that we know that the UN is capable of thwarting a military strike in Iraq, but we are fooling the World into believing that our buildup is strictly aimed at Iraq, when in fact it is probably geared toward North Korea.

Any other similar thoughts out there?

I have had the passing thought that one of our sorties could go "a bit off course" and do an Ilan Ramon on the North Korean nuke plant.

I figure the pilots should be name Corrigan, Riegals, and Page.

No, the war on Iraq is real and inevitable, unless someone assassinates Saddam, and probably we will go in anyway in that case.

The timing is wrong. The Iraq buildup started well before North Korea hit the radar screen. And there is a good basic purpose for invading Iraq in the context of the war against Islamic terrorism.

We might very well strike North Korean nuclear facilities sometime soon, but that would not divert us from Iraq, IMHO.

One well planned bombing raid then several well placed tactical nukes along the avenues of approach into South Korea could do it.

Any action against North Korea is likely to NOT be a ground invasion. They have a lot of troops. We've learned that lesson, I think.

Indeed, all those ships in the Med and Persian Gulf will sneak over to the Sea of Japan and Yellow Sea overnight under the cover of darkness. It's a left hook from five thousand miles away.

No ........China will jerk the DPRK's chain before they let such occur. They also will "never" allow a unified Korea backed by the USA on their common border IMHO. If we attack the North (very doubtful IMO) the chinese have more 16-50 year old troops with clubs than we have bullets and conventional bombs to kill em so any plan to do such has to include the nuclear option up front or be ready to relinqush the south and lose a whole lot of American GI's in the process.

Just my thoughts on the matter.....Stay Safe !

Hopefully, not from anyone with a map. Kuwait, where we are amassing our troops now, is not a whole lot closer to Pyongyang than Fort Bragg.

You should go to the store and purchase a globe, then go see the Wizard for a brain. First Iraq, second Syria, third Iran, and finally the NPRK. By that time we will have a missle defense in place. Which, by the way, is what has Kim's panties in a bunch anyway. In case you were out in the woods at the time he became an ass pain after we announced our missle defense program would be online in 2006. P.S. are those fighter planes from Camp David still following you?

I am curious....

Back in the Korean "conflict", what was our highest number of troops in-country?

...so any plan to do such (confronting China) has to include the nuclear option up front .

I believe our policy (this administration's) has been not to rule out nuclear weapons. First strike or to retaliate, whether in N. Korea or Iraq currently (unlike the i42 admin). Imho, this policy will continue when dealing with the Chicoms strategically, geo-politically, or militarily.

What was the line in the movie Red Dawn regarding the Chinese after they attacked Russia? "30 minutes later there were only a half billion?" I hope that Chicom general Xi (whatever his name) saw that movie. Because we are capable of much worse.

I think it is a buildup to the war at the end of the world that Notradamus predicted. The ruler in the blue turban is actual the head of the UN, in a blue helmet.

It's hard to imagine why there has been such a huge military buildup just to take out Saddam and a few of his cronies. Something really doesn't add up. The plan must be much larger than Iraq.

It's just a damned shame that Papa Bush left us with this horrible and expensive mess to clean up now.....
