Please Act in Our Name

The signers of this statement believe that an overwhelming majority of Americans support the policies and overall political direction that have emerged since September 11, 2002, and which offer a beacon of moral clarity and hope to the people of the United States and the world.

We believe that citizens of every nation have the God given right to determine their own destiny, free from the tyranny of brutal dictators. We further believe that when those same dictators starve, rape and murder their own people while diverting resources to the development of weapons of mass destruction that this represents a grave danger to the entire world.

We believe that those now being pursued or detained by our government in the war on terror represent a forward delivery system for these horrible weapons. We believe that the worldwide terror network has in common with the murderer in Iraq the goal of mass, indiscriminate murder of Americans and the destruction of our civilization.

We believe that the first duty of government is common defense. We believe that people of conscience are currently acting in accordance with that responsibility. As people of conscience, we believe that America has historically been, and continues to be, a force for good in the world and to ignore our responsibility now leaves millions subject to the brutality of the tyrant later. To defend our citizens while liberating Iraq is not only moral, just and legitimate, it is the only responsible course for our President to take and creates common cause with the people of the world while putting tyrants everywhere on notice.

The government now openly prepares for all-out war on Iraq—a country whose leaders are a group of murderers and rapists who are actively working to expand on the horror of September 11. What kind of world will this become if we fail in our duty to rid the world of such rulers ?

We who sign this statement call on like-minded Americans to join together in support of our President and those who risk their lives on our behalf. As to the questioning and protest now going on, we applaud the right of every American to voice their opinion, however misguided. We note, however, that those behind the current protests (the American Workers Party, the intellectual relics from the sixties who currently staff the re-education camps that were once America’s great universities, and the extreme left in the media and politics) have consistently taken the position of America’s enemies. From Hitler to Stalin to Mao to Castro to Saddam, these “opinion leaders” have served the interests of history’s great mass murderers

Mr. President, do not listen to them.

War is not inevitable, Saddam can stop it.

Should he fail to stop it, we urge the President to act in our name by removing him from power, disarming him and liberating the people of Iraq, by force if necessary.

I noticed a large display ad by the local chapter (bunch of professors)of the "Not in our Name" crowd. I developed this in response. If anyone here knows how to get it in circulation let me know.

I don't have the time or means to set up such a thing, but I always thought something along the lines of this could be really cool.

Make a website, where you can sign the "Act in our Name" petition. Everyone can sign and have their name seen on the web, but for $5 or whatever, you get your name printed in a newspaper ad. Collect a large sum of money, and publish the ad in the NYT, or WashPost with the proceeds.

In fairness (to me, an Irish Freeper), I did what was asked of the poster.

Publicising the thread is not up to me.

I don't want kudos.
I did my bit.

Over and out!

You asked. You got.

Making a petition demands an amount of responsibility.

You asked!

You GOT!

Now, administer. (OK?)
