Hmm. Then we'll need more bombers or bigger bombs.

From what I hear, Russia and China aren't in a big hurry to settle Korea down, wonder why is that??

Ivanov, who added he hoped a "coalition of the willing" -- including North and South Korea, the United States, China and Russia --Tell you what Ivan, why don't you and China take care of North Korea and we'll take care of Iraq. IMHO Russia and China are the authors of the NK problem. There is NO reason why the US should be drug into the problem, it's not our region of the world, it doesn't really impact us but Iraq does.

"Possibly" a bigger threat?
Iran & N. Korea are just two of the countries who are larger threats to our national security than Iraq.
This is not news.

North Korea.very dangerous!
You go first!
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
We simply cannot allow North Korea to have the bomb and a vehicle to deliver it to our shores. If China and Russia can't understand this, then we do have a problem. North Korea is going to get it's ass kicked if it keeps this up. It may get messy, but it would be a whole lot more messy if given five to ten years to ferment.

I suspect had it been N. Korea that all this time we
were moving to get to disarm or face forced disarmament,
it would be Iraq now acting up, trying to stir things up,
to get us to not bother their Arms suppliers in NKorea. And
it would be Russia/China/France/China saying... "Whoa,
US, Iraq is a bigger problem than NK!"

If North Korea is the greater threat, then perhaps Russia is going to step forward and do the right thing, since Korea is a lot closer to Russia than the US.
Korea is a problem for its neighbors, which are Russia, China, Japan, and South Korea. We are concerned, too, and we will get to it as soon as we can. If thats not soon enough for our friends, then perhaps they can pitch in and help.

"Russia: N.Korea Could Be Bigger Threat Than Iraq"
NO SH*T, BORIS!
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
To Russia and China: NK is your crazy aunt in the basement. I would say that she is your problem to deal with but I know you are the ones who feed her. I also know you poke her with sticks to make her act crazy. You want her in the shape she is in so that all the neighbors can scream for us to do something about it. Sadly, we have been helping you feed her but you still poke her. I think we should whack her in the head and turn her into another nice little free enterprise zone right on your borders. Think about it.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Sunday North Korea may pose a greater threat than Iraq and that he hoped the crisis over Pyongyang's nuclear program could be resolved peacefully. The Soviet Union then Russia gave aid and comfort to the monstrous DPRK for over 40 years. If Russia doesn't do more to put that nest of snakes back into the box then it will prove that Russia is only a 3rd rate power on the world's stage.

In about a month, any country will be a bigger threat than Iraq. Fiji will be a bigger threat than Iraq. Heck, even France will be a bigger threat than Iraq.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Is this a threat from the newly freed communists? Or maybe they haven't change their spots after all.
There is no doubt that N. Korea got this idea of trying to upstage the freeing of the people in Iraq from our so called "communists" friends.
Sure would like to have all their contacts in this country traced, let's not forget how pleased the dems were when N. Korea started making noise.

Ok -- so why don't you just go ahead and handle it?
This started out as a UN problem. How did it morph into Just a US problem?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Russia sounds like the Democrats. Maybe Russia should handle N.Korea.

maybe this has already been said, but the reasons why Russia wants to paint the picture of peril on the North Korean peninsula is because they want their hands on Iraqi oil.
The situation has been SNAFU for a long time now--even before the AF agreement. The US is not directly threatened in North Korea--yet, and we have wiggle room. We simply cannot go in there and bomb the crap out of the place--diplomacy is indeed the only way.
I'm surprised France hasn't joined Russia in the chorus to get the US to focus more on Iraq--as we've seen with Russia's approach to everything its democratic pronouncements mean nothing.
