JERUSALEM - Israel banned all Palestinians from entering Israel from the West Bank and Gaza Strip (news - web sites) late Monday, the Defense Ministry said, citing warnings of Palestinian attacks.
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz canceled measures aimed at easing restrictions during the Muslim Feast of the Sacrifice holiday this week, the ministry said. Quoting unidentified military sources, Army Radio said there were reports that militants intended to carry out terror attacks in the coming days.
Total closures are infrequent, though Israel has severely restricted access for Palestinians to Israel throughout 28 months of Israeli-Palestinian fighting.
The military had said it would ease restrictions for workers to enter the country and would allow Palestinians over 45 years of age to pray at a disputed holy site in the Old City of Jerusalem during the holiday.
Canceling the orders means Israeli roadblocks on West Bank roads would remain in place, preventing people from moving around freely to visit relatives or work. The restrictions initially were imposed shortly after violence erupted in September 2000.

It's about time! I wondered how much longer they would stomach all the Homicide bombings, I realize that it's probably more influenced by the coming war with Iraq but I wouldn't let them back period if I was Sharon.

Wish we could close off our borders so quickly and effectively.

ADIZ over Washington DC...Forgive my ignorance, but what is that? Air Defense of some sort, I hope?

My prayers are with the Israeli people too.

If there is any country that doesn't deserve what Iraq is most likely to send their way it is Israel. Those people have been through enough.
After Saddam, time to take the gloves off Sharon and let him destroy Arafat and those terrorist organizations once and for all!

I think that the 1/2 assed job on Iraq will be a thing of the past, Pres. Bush is ready to go in and finish the job that his daddy left half done. In the meantime keep your head low and your powder dry, Hussein/Iraq is going down.

Sound policy, under the circumstances.

If only we would do the same for all Muslims trying to enter our country, at least a temporary moratoriam.
All 7-Elevens would be without workers; that's the only downside I can see.
