"Historically, God's protection over Israel had been directly proportional to the Jewish nation's obedienece to God's laws. "

Historically, yes. Prophetically; he will bring Israel into the land and be a wall of fire around them. He will use Israel to begin the latter days and will bring all nations under the rule and reign of Jesus Christ on the earth for 1000 years; this is called the kingdom age and follows the 7 year tribulation referred to as both "Jacob's Trouble(Israel) and "God's indignation" (worldwide tribualtion). This tribulation is to bring both Jews and Gentiles(all non jewish nations) to the knowledge of God and His only begotten Son; Jesus Christ. Search the scriptures and you will see for yourself. God wants all men to be saved by grace through faith in the finished work of God ,that work was done in the person of God in the flesh at the cross of Calvary; Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of anyone and every one who belives how that Jesus alone died for our sins and rose the third day for our salvation. Those who believe will go up in the rapture. Those who don't will remain on the earth and go through the tribulation so that the Father can bring the whole world to the knowledge of His Son; Jesus Christ the rightious One and Saviour of all who believe ONLY on Him.

Several years ago in Newsweek, there was a report on believing in God, and what percentage of population of countries in Europe, Americas, Israel... I was very surprised by that big number 60%.

A three front war may have Israel compassed with armies. This is but an event left in the Holy Bible.

The Iraq war is going to be like the end of the original Godfather movie. Michael Corleone took care of a lot of unfinished business with the other families all at once.

George W with the help of Tony Blair, and Isreal is about to take care of a lot of unfinished business in the region all at once. When it is all over, everyone will know the bosses are in the Middle East.

What if Egypt, Jordan and Syria also attack Israel simultaneously with Iraq? What are the contingency plans for this?

God. He carries a very big stick, and loves His people.

200 - 300 Israeli nukes probably have a hand to play in this... including at least a few thermonuclear (hydrogen) bombs. They have ganged up on Israel before more than once, and got their collective butts whipped more than once. This time it will be worse.

Amen!! Isaiah 17 is about to take place.

An Oracle Against Damascus (Damascus, Syria is the financial supporter and headquarters of Hezballah)

"See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins." Vs. 1

On Erev Shabbat, 5th lyar 5708 ( May 14, 1948), Israel became a state.

And immediately it was plunged into war as five of the neighboring Arab states attack. These Arab states had previously voted against the UN partition of "Palestine" and now simply refused to recognize that historic and democratic vote.

Little Israel, which had virtually no heavy artillery, no tanks, no airplanes, had to defend itself against Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iraq! At that time, that was 600,000 Jews against 45 million Arabs population, while the UN did nothing.

AND YET THE JEWS WON!!

But the victory was not complete. The Old City of Jerusalem, including the Jewish Quarter and access to the Kotel (the Western Wailing) Wall - fell to the Jordanians. The Jews were driven out of the Old City, and their homes and synogogues looted and destroyed. Jordanians barred Jewish access to any holy sites within the Old City, and the world AGAIN did not lift a finger in protest.

This WAR OF INDEPENDENCE in 1948 cost Israel 6,000 Israeli lives. Mt Herzl, the national cemetery, is full of graves without names. These are graves of Holocaust survivors who made it to Israel only to be handed a gun in order to fight for the survival of the Jewish nation.

By the end of the War of Independence, the State of Israel's borders were radically new, AND NOT THE ONES THAT THE UN HAD DEFINED IN THEIR PARTITION VOTE!! Israel got MORE land, but lost the Old City of Jerusalem. Instead of having a narrow strip of land of Tel Aviv and Haifa, they now had the land surrounding the Sea of Galilee, Negev Desert, North and Western Galilee, the ENTIRE WEST BANK OF THE JORDAN RIVER (Judea and Samaria) and the Gaza Strip!!!

Clearly a miracle! (Deut. 30:3-5) "And the Lord, your God, shall return you from your captivity, and have compassion upon you. He shall return and gather you from amongst ALL THE NATIONS. And the Lord, your God will bring you back into the land your fathers inherited. He will make you even more prosperous and numerous than your fathers."

The Arab countries did not take their defeat easily. All the while they were plotting a comeback.

May 22, 1967 - SIX DAY WAR

Egyptian President Nasser declared the Strait of Tiran, Israel's sea access closed to Israel and all incoming ships. Israel again attempted to find a polital solution, even though this repeated aggression on the part of the Arabs was an act of war. Nasser, and the entire arab world vowed that they were going to destroy Israel, and wipe them off the map. (Check your history)

On June 5, 1967 Israel, in self-defense, lunched a preemptive strike. In one sweep, Israeli planes bombed the entire Egyptian air force still on the ground, and the next day did the same thing to the entire Jordanian air force. IN JUST SIX DAYS, Israel captured HUGE chunks of land and won what is considered one of the greatest military victories in history!!

The Sinai Peninsula (from Egypt)
The Golan Heights (from Syria)
In the east, the West Bank of the River Jordan, which Jordan annexed after 1948
THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM!!!

Then the Yom Kippur War. Israel has not lost one war against the arabs against all odds!!

Get the picture? (Ha!) God is with Israel, and is not about to let her down now.

Yeah, which is why the Arabs won't unite to fight a major war aganist Israel for a long time. It is suicidal to do so. But there will still be terrorism though.

"the ENTIRE WEST BANK OF THE JORDAN RIVER (Judea and Samaria) and the Gaza Strip!!! "

Just a correction. Israel got those after the 1967 WAR not the 1948 War of Independence. Up to 1967, those were under Egypt and Jordan Control.

Another war Israel won was in 1956.

They are filed with the contingency plans for if Martians attack with ray guns because they are about as likely to be needed.

Israel has a formal peace treaty with Egypt and a very strong treaty with Jordan. Indeed, Jordan has sided with the US against Iraq. Syria will sit this one out, if for no other reason than to avoid fighting the Turks.

That is not to say that Israel will sit this one out. If they are attacked, I believe this time they may retaliate.

It may happen, but it won't affect the current coalition. No one will join Iraq and attack Israel, no one will bolt the coalition rather than fight on the same side as Israel. Therefore, I doubt Iraq will attack Israel. They were trying to split the coalition, last time.
