WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Colin Powell told a Senate panel Tuesday that what appears to be a new statement from Osama bin Laden shows why the world needs to be concerned about Iraqi ties to terrorism.
Powell said he read a transcript of "what bin Laden -- or who we believe to be bin Laden" will be saying on the Al-Jazeera Arab satellite station later Tuesday, "where once again he speaks to the people of Iraq and talks about their struggle and how he is in partnership with Iraq."
"This nexus between terrorists and states that are developing weapons of mass destruction can no longer be looked away from and ignored," Powell told the Senate Budget Committee.

This is the first I heard of a new Bin Laden message, which apparently will air on Al Jazeera ( or maybe aired by now?). If true, and since Powell is referring to it, I would guess it is, it means that Bin Laden is alive and that they really are preparing some massive attacks. Historically Bin Laden has come out and warn before their attacks.

That's exactly what I was thinking... the only thing that has been missing from all these warnings about attacks is a recent Been Stupid (Bin Laden) message. Man I hate this guy...
To: FairOpinion
Fox News just said that they are looking for a copy of the tape and will air it.

At the top of the 9 o'clock hour, our local radio station (WTMJ-Milwaukee) broadcast a breaking news report that US intelligence agencies have said they have authenticated a new bin laden tape in which he orders muslims to kill Americans and Jews everywhere 'in secret ways'! I cannot find another report of this anywhere. Has anyone else heard this?

Bin Laden is as dead as Elvis. Colin Powell would appear to disagree with you...
Powell said he read a transcript of "what bin Laden -- or who we believe to be bin Laden..."

Secretary of State Colin Powell told a Senate panel Tuesday that what appears to be a new statement from Osama bin Laden shows why the world needs to be concerned about Iraqi ties to terrorism. How convenient. I wonder how much Osama is getting paid for this endorsement? Just a thought.

They want Saddam to grow horns and breathe fire, nuke a major US metropolis, send a public statement of claim for the action to NPR, and even THEN, it'd still be our fault.
Remember, WE are evil. Thus, everyone else must be, if not good, at least the lesser of two evils.

*But Al-Jazeera chief editor Ibrahim Hilal told The Associated Press his station has no such tape*
Well that clinches it. Let's all believe Al Jerksa and call Powell a liar.

As I was listening to Powell, I had the quick fearful thought that this message was a "plant" by the evilones" to make a fool of Powell, and try to discredit him.
I hope I am wrong.

On a serious note though, terrorists hope to cause enough disruption here and maybe in Britain to shift our focus from Saddam to having to deal with cleaning up the mess and burying the bodies.
Will they succeed? guess time will tell
