Another tidbit:
1941 : (IRAQ : COUP ATTEMPT) Kharaillah Tulfah, Saddam Hussein's uncle and future father in law, along with Gen. Rashid Ali and the so-called "golden square" cabal of pro-Nazi officers, participated in a failed coup against the pro-British government of Iraq in 1941. Operating behind the scenes in Baghdad at the time, and arranging for Nazi weapons and assistance was the notorious pro-Nazi Haj Amin al-Husseini the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. The Mufti had been on the Nazi payroll, according to testimony at the Nuremberg and Eichmann trials, since 1937 when he had met with Adolf Eichmann during Eichmann's brief visit to Palestine. The Mufti, after instigating a pogrom against Jews in Palestine in 1920, the first such pogrom against Jews in the Arab world in hundreds of years, went on to inspire the development of pro Nazi parties throughout the Arab world including Young Egypt, led by Gamal Abdul Nasser, and the Social Nationalist Party of Syria led by Anton Sa'ada. After the failure of the 1941 pro-Nazi coup in Iraq, the Mufti fled to Berlin where he spent the war years heading a Nazi-Muslim government in exile and using confiscated Jewish funds in a largely successful effort to further pro-Nazi and anti-Semitic propaganda in the Arab world. While in Berlin, the Mufti also helped form pro-Nazi Muslim Hanschar brigades in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. - "Nazi Background of Saddam Hussein," by Chuck Morse, www.chuckmorse.com, February 4, 2003

Love your tag line. "Osama is still spelunkering" and as, I said before, dragging his dialysis machine behind him. LOL! Binny did look pretty bad in his last video, didn't he?
I think it's hilarious that the administration let the lefties and media pretend these Bin Laden audiotapes were authentic and now that the tapes are supporting Bush's policies they can't get out of the trap! From what I heard of Powell's statement he doesn't think Binny's alive either - but he'll still use the statement!

IMO, Krekar is a heavy hitter. He also appears to be a showman. The refusal to cooperate with the Norweigan authories because they're 'American proxies' is an example.
He said 'If the Americans issue a visa for my use, I will tell them anything they want to know I will even pay for my own ticket.'
I think we should take him up on it. He says he's not like Binny, because he doesn't target civilians. He evades when asked WHY he sought asylum in Norway. Probably angling to lead the new Islamist regime he envisions for post-Saddam Iraq.

Osama just announced he is giving up terrorism to become a full-time member of ZZ Top. Which brings to mind, of course, that the only clean shaven member of the ZZ Top trio sports the last name "Beard". The irony is ... uh ... ironic.

I've seen no mainstream report that Al Qaeda is trying to overthrow Saddam. In their haste to paint Powell and the administration as, at the very least, inept, MSNBC in their very first reports on the content of the tape said exactly that. I heard Jeannie Ohm in front of the WH state that, contrary to the administration's premise that al Qaeda and Saddam were in cahoots, this showed otherwise.
Just disgraceful.
They have since realized they were WRONG. (I haven't been watching, but I'm sure it's safe to say they didn't worry their heads over their grossly misleading reporting of earlier in the day.)

Thanks for the link - fascinating tidbit.
Whenever I explain to people that what we are fighting is fascism that took root in the region decades ago with strong links to the Nazis I get back disbelief. People just don't know this stuff. The Grand Mufti was promoting islamo-facsism before Bin Laden was born. A moderately responsible press would do an investigative piece on this history.

Hussein arming al-Qaida makes as much sense as Hussein arming Iran.
Yea...that makes as much sense as Hussein sending his planes to Iran in order to escape American destruction in Gulf War I...oh...that DID happen.
Never mind.

It is just mind boggling that the media would imply that Colin Powell made this whole thing up !!!Every time I think the US
media has dropped to a new low, they dig themselves a little deeper-pretty soon ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN,MSNBC will be
broadcasting from the core of the earth .
I have been out all day and just got online. This may have already been reported. Someone told me that they heard Dan Rather on a radio news report say that "people are saying" Bush's actions had caused the alliance between AQ and Iraq.

Yes, I honestly believe that Saddam has joined forces with al Qaeda. Or vice versa.
