A technical proof that outcome based egalitarianism is unnatural and should not be expected, regardless of -isms claimed to exist by PC advocates. Process based egalitarianism is the best hope for approximating "fairness."

Of course most leftists are too dumb/emotional to follow the logic provided above.

I write good. I link to nice stories. So, why am I on the wrong end of the power distribution? Because the famous bloggers conspire against me, that's why.

Actually a pretty good read and an interesting subject.

On a small side note: To quote teh Maja-Rushie: "Having freedom od speach does not mean having the right to be heard." Anyone complaining of how "unfair" it is that someone else's web-site gets all the traffic should bear this in mind.

Very interesting article, and the logic was both simple and compelling. Thank you for posting this.

A power law is the consequence of self-organized-complexity. Anytime one has a bunch of randomly-formed structures, a power law arises more naturally than the bell-curve. Earthquakes, avalanches, sandpile collapse, forest fires, etc. have all been modeled by such laws and the law seems to work well.

Good article. It reminds me of a friend of mine who did some work for the IRS (ick) helping them to identify fraud using statistical methods. It turns out that the distribution of leading digits of pretty much all data follow a power law, so if you're going to create fictitious numbers you want to have more starting with 1's than 2's, more 2's than 3's, and so on. More detail here.

Of course most leftists are too dumb/emotional to follow the logic provided above.

Make that "most left leftists are too dumb/emotional to follow logic".

The growing "income gap" is the best example of this. The bottom is fixed at 0. As the economy grows, the top will grow. Therefore, the gap will grow. No one ever points this out. Rather, it is assumed there is some "equitable distribution" that should be enforced from above. That was tried by the former Soviet Union--it didn't work.

The only idea that was dumber was the feminists' idea of "equivalent pay for equivalent work". That is, teachers should be paid as much as garbage collectors, regardless of the market. That's a sure method to shortages and over supply--just like the Soviet Union.
