Although they have been doing so stealthily, now Hatch has recognized that they are filibustering.

What happens when the sun comes up, there are at least ten Democrats who cannot see the Light of Dawn.

I don't think the Senate Republicans have the stones to make them filibuster, much less break one. I'll be pleasantly suprised if they do.

They fear that the power of their favorite agent of advancing cultural Marxism, the judiciary, will be diluted with the addition of an intelligent, articulate man such as Mr. Estrada. Well said.

You aren't alone. The Democratic party has been clinton-corrupted.
Sen. Hatch:
"All of their stuff has been coming from People for the American Way and that is not</b. the American way."
"I question under the Constitution if you can really do this under the Constitution. I think it's outrageous to try. I think it's dangerous to try."

The rats do stuff like this because they believe they can get away with it. Unfortunately, they usually do.
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
I don't think the rats care about the constitution. They just want immediate gratification at what ever the cost.

Here is my note:
Mr. Frist, Suprise us all, and make them filibuster. Then bust it. I haven't sent money to the RNC for two years, precisely because Congressional Republicans, namely SENATE Republicans, had no spine. When you earn my respect, and money, you will get it. Do the right thing for once,

Frist should be on every show he can get on pounding them over the head as bigots, ideological and yes racist. They don't like Estrada because he wandered off the imagined leftist plantation.
Screw them, fight the sob's with fire.

ABC News Tonight didn't even mention this debate. If American Hispanics are going to get irate over the way democrats are treating one of their own, first they have to be aware of it. That's the right-wing bias Eric Alterman is getting all those bookings to tell the American people about. CNN agrees with the Dems. re. filibuster.
We need to Freep the media,, too. If they refuse to change their ways, it won't be for lack of our trying.

Hatch: The senators (beginning tomorrow night) should expect late nights from now on.
I heard Hatch this morning give a 5 star speech in which he went over every step the dem were advised to make, ending in their ultimate weapon....filabuster. He refuted every step with both facts and comments in a reasoned and impassioned way.
Personally, I'll like to see the dems filabuster 24/7 until they collapsed. Charles Krauthammer tonight said their tactics were a "lose lose" situation, for they would drive Hispanics (whom they woo for votes) to the Republican party.

I watched a news clip of the LULAC on Britt Humes show tonight and they said they would declare war on the Dems if they filibuster Bush's Latin Judicial nominee
Looks to me the Dems are really shooting themselves in the foot

I saw some Hispanic group (who support Estrada), on TV with some Republicans, pointing a finger at the dems and basically telling them - "We will not forget".
The dems are shooting themselves in the foot. In Hitlery's haste to demonize and destroy the President, she has exposed the dems' true motive: they are not for the "little people" - they are for themselves and their power.
This could be a huge problem for them in 2004.
Watch for the dems to push for legalizing immigrants - BIG TIME - which they believe will be their saving move. I don't think it will work - and will only further strain their relationship with Hispanic people when the dems cannot deliver legalization.

A filibuster simply means that the floor remains open (on an issue) for debate. The debate needs to be closed, or the committee needs to agree that there is no further discussion on an issue (same thing, but different avenues, from a parlimentary perspective) before the issue can be brought to a vote.
The Senate can recess, and it can postpone, defer further action on the issue being filibustered or even table the issue (tabeling is a sure fire death sentence, since it takes a simple majoriy to "table" an issue, but a 2/3 majority to get the issue back off the "table"). Notwithstanding these actions, as soon as the issue comes back before the committee, it moves forward with the filibuster still intact. It's like hitting a pause button on a tape.
It takes 2/3 majority vote to close debate (invoke cloture), in order to force a vote.
Senate stands in adjourment. Debate continues on the nomination of Miguel Estrada tomorrow.
Freepers, contact your Senators, and the media! Please call Sen. Hatch and the GOP with support. Pfaw and DU Rats are flooding their phone lines. Look at our opponents, how can we not fight?! For those who pray, please pray.

It takes 2/3 majority vote to close debate (invoke cloture), in order to force a vote. Majority for cloture is 3/5 (60 senators).
