Thanks for your comments. This issue riles me to no end. My grandparents came from Poland. Why should I have to pay any of my hard earned dollars to support ghosts? Because that's who would get the reparations. There are no living ex-slaves in America today.

That is the way I feel about my tax dollars being used to support the so-called, "Historical Black Colleges." IMO, they are just an extension of this proposed K-12 Curriculum.

I will preface this by saying that I am a black American Naval Officer and politically conservative and new FReeper since I went to CPAC and had the pleasure of meeting other FReepers. I think that the ongoing debate about reparations is based on several false premises but one central theme. That theme is continued victimology/victimization of black Americans. If you put slavery and the events that followed into a Darwinistic point of view, the Africans that survived capture, middle passage disease and entry into North America were the best and brightest of the African continent. They were the fittest that survived and I think they are rolling over in their graves because of the way the race baiters are acting. Jesse Jackson, Walter Barron, Al Sharpton, NAACP, Congresional Black Caucus are part of the problem not the solution. One thing that I have learned from my dead ancestors is how to be self reliant and not hide behind race. When something good happens to a black person you never ever hear that person say " I scored a touchdown or winning basket because I am black." Let something negetive happen then they are screaming at the top of their lungs racism! In my opinion the rank and file black Americans don't regard these individuals as leaders I sure don't. One of the first rules of leadership is to lead by example not excuse. Those people and thier ilk are useless. Booker T. Washington in his writings in the early 1900s warned of race baiters and people that would divde the race. He was right then just as now. Someone please answer this there is not one living slave or slave holder in America today who determines who should pay. Another fact since those of us with Negorid features are not purely African how to we address the miscegenation between slave and slave holder. Does that mean I have to sue and extort money from my white relatives? What about the quadroons and Octaroons where do they fit into the equation? If someone black disagrees with their philosophy they they are labeled "Uncle Toms." If they want reparations get a damned education, learn math and science so you can get a job and get paid. Quit acting like the world owes you something because you are here. I thank God everyday that I live here as a black man. How come I don't see those that are making the reparation argument talking to the Saudis or the other African countries that sold thier captives into Slavery? What about the Slavery in the Sudan? The Bullsh*t flag has been thrown. Since I recently returned from serving in Operation Enduring Freedom I have a renewed love for the United States and Freedoms that we have.
