I would like to hear from freepers who have had a change of opinion about the US going to war with Iraq and Saddam Hussein. Whether you were previously opposed and now are in favor or were previously in favor but are now opposed, I would like to hear from you.
What information or events changed your mind and when did you change your mind?

The only change in my position is I'm more firm in my belief that we need to take Saddam out.
I have also contacted my Congressman (Tom DeLay) and both of my Senators (Kay Baily Hutchinson and John Cornyn) to let them know that we need to drop any further dealings with the UN.

I was for going in November 2001, but now I'm for going now. I really can't explain why.

" The only change in my position is I'm more firm in my belief that we need to take Saddam out. "
May I second that.
To: Mr. Mulliner
Well, for a long time I wanted us to go into Iraq, now I want us to go into France!
To: Mr. Mulliner
My only change of heart is that I thought we needed to go through the UN charade. Now I think we should just go in by our selves. (which I believe we are bound to do anyway as soon as we have all the bombs in place.
It's time.
It's past time.

Part of me says the phrase 'Let's Roll!' is famous last words.

Frankly, I'm beginning to get a little impatient with Bush for protracting the attack on Iraq out to the point that it now has allowed his detractors to get organized. This weekend in London the largest peace rally in the cities history is expected. The liberal media is having a field day with Blix and his tepid report on Iraq and progress by the arms inspectors. This evening on World News Tonight expect Peter Jennings to hit the Bush administration hard on Blix's report today to the United Nations. It's time for Bush to pull the trigger on Iraq ... further delay gains nothing!

I also thought that the UN charade was a dance that had to be danced. For political and support reasons. I have always been concerned about PRECISELY the outcome that we've seen. Although, the treachery of the Frogs and Krauts and maybe even the Russians (who cares about Belgium?) has astounded me.
We will have to go in and do it. It's unfortunate, actually a darned shame, that in even in trying to give peace one last try, the Euroweasles have made us look unilateral. I think that's one part of their agenda.

A year ago I was probably 60% committed in favor of going in. Now I'm 100% Change mainly due to the additional information on just how bad it is in Iraq and how we are being jerked around by the Iraqis and the world "community".

Ditto #3 -- you said it better than I could!

I'm still in favor of going to Iraq and kicking Saddam's sorry a$$ but I do worry about the St. Bernard that one of those human shields brought along with them.

That's what I always say :)
Seriously, even more convinced now. The delay only emboldens our enemies abroad and at home.

I totally understand about going to war with Iraq. My first reaction was to turn Iraq into a glass parking lot.
But upon consideration, I think that we can do more effective damage covertly to both Iraq and Al Quaeda.
Unfortunately, it's not good for public relations nor does it make for good 24 hour news coverage.
I dunno...in the good old days we fought wars militarily. Given the nature of this new kind of enemy and the proliferation of these deadlier weapons, I just think that our leaders should use prudence and be open to using different strategies rather than just rely on military solutions.
Well...that's my 2 cents.
BTW...I'm borrowing Pilgrim's Progress.

Chomping at the bit. War can't come soon enough.
To: Mr. Mulliner
I am much more hardline in my position about taking out Saddam since this "crisis" began. I thought we should kill the blighter in 1991. I have thought ever since that he should die. Now my feelings are that he should face a "Mussolini moment" at the hands of his own people.

I can certainly understand your impatience. It is frustrating to think that we're giving our enemies more time to prepare while we have to listen to all the UN's BS.
But you know, I really trust this administration more than ever. I think that we gain more of an advantage in our own preparation than the Iraqis do. And letting the UN whiners take center stage takes the spotlight off of our military buildup which has been going on all along. We're just about ready to go.
