Leaked memo attacks NATO trio

NATO chief George Robertson has accused three European countries of "vandalising" the alliance by blocking an agreement on defending Turkey, according to a leaked memo seen by AFP today.

The memo also says NATO intelligence indicates Iraq has moved missiles close to the Kuwaiti border and could use them pre-emptively.

"Today's (NATO) intelligence reporting ... shows that Saddam has moved CBW-capable ballistic missiles close to the Kuwait border," Robertson says in the memo, originally reported by Belgian state television.

The NATO chief asks himself why the missiles would be moved to such a vulnerable position. "There can be only one reason: that Saddam is planning to use these weapons pre-emptively," he says.

I think all of this is likely enough. The question is whether the rest of Europe will sit still and let Chirac and Schoeder give them orders.

There is no doubt about the underhanded actions of France and Germany. A good part of their arrogance comes from us through the "prevert-in-chief" and his wife who think that they are still calling the shots. Being President for 8 years he was the world leader of the socialists, he and his Sect. of State verbally desired the equality of all nations and did everything they could to fulfill that quest.

While France and Germany have their own desires for replacing US, as power of world, based upon what the "pervert" and Queen H. keep doing and saying, I would be more inclined to see those two as organizers and their words like the terrorist use are CODE.

While Mr. Blair maybe protecting his own interests, after such a close relationship with the world socialist leaders, it is good to see that he has a backbone, especially when his own people have their head in the sand.

Look at the actions of the left in this country, not only are they intended to regain power, but in regaining power they are willing to denigrate our country.

I am not letting the French, Germans, Russians, Chinese, N. Koreans, S. Koreans, Iraq, etc.... terrorist off the hook, but they would not be in the position they are in if it had not been for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Arrogant cynicism has been the political life blood of France for at least 80 years. Its every move is calculated to advance some short term goal of the French government. One can vizualize the greedy undertaker in a bad Western movie, hoping for the next gunfight so he can sell nore caskets. This is the French view of the world and it is not one which leads to greatness.

This is worrisome to me. When dems start acting un-demlike, things are really odd. And, I'm not trying to be funny.

There has been a lot of resentment for a long time on the part of - well, all the countries that are not Germany and France. I have actually read that there has been some discussion of other alliances being formed, although this is all quite nebulous at the moment.

In any case, I think all of them realize that it's never a good thing when France and Germany agree on something!

No .. I think some of the Dems are starting to realize that this isn't a game anymore .. that people lives are in danger and they aren't willing to go down in the sewer for Hillary and Bill Clinton

Jay Rockefeller and fellow liberal Rat Diane Feinstein support the war in Iraq because they know the facts. They are both on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Well, I for one am glad the government isn't telling us everything. I'm having a hard enough time sleeping as it is! I can't imagine the stress President Bush and those are under.

Kudos on your observations - we must also remember the Franco-German bloc's support for a pan-EU army. In light of that, the calculus behind their sickening tantrum over NATO's explicit obligations to Turkey becomes clearer. I am in full agreement that the axis of poofters is largely driven by a desire to neuter Blair and the UK. They also aim to neuter American influence in Europe by hobbling NATO and reconstructing the European security apparatus around Franco-German aims. I don't see Eastern Europe going along with this, but that'll be next year's topic.

Ignoring the France and Germany's total lack of honor for a second, I'm actually in full support of the reds in Western Europe to finally foot the full bill for their own defense while they struggle to to keep their social spending at the same levels as over the past 50 years. I really can't wait to see them fall. Schadenfreude r0x0rz.
