Mayor of London Launches Fierce Attack On Bush
Anti-war march: what the speakers said ^
Posted on 02/15/2003 11:42:29 AM PST by maquiladora
At the anti-war march in London:
The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, launched a scathing attack on the US president, George Bush, during his address to crowds in London's Hyde Park.
"This is a president who uses the death penalty with complete abandon and disregard for any respect for life. This is no example," Mr Livingstone said.
"So let everyone recognise what has happened here today: that Britain does not support this war for oil. The British people will not tolerate being used to prop up the most corrupt and racist American administration in over 80 years.
"If you listened to Tony Blair today ... he talked about giving more time to the inspectors, he talked about the need for a new UN resolution, and there's the weakness.
"There are nations on the security council that are for sale. Nations who will be offered the liquidation of their debts and offered major grants. Let's watch the security council like hawks.
"Let's not, having won the moral case and demonstrated the opposition of the world, lose this fight because of corruption and vote-buying on the security council."

It was once said that the "Sun shall not set on the British Empire".
It has.
Tony Blair is just doing what he can to prevent the bad moon from rising over it.
It sounds as though he may be too late.

Hey Mr. Livingstone, my 2001 Ford Bullitt Mustang GT needs black gold baaaaby!
Seriously, if you think the war against Iraq is about oil, you're a fool.
By the way, this isn't going to be a war it is going to be the mother of all defeats for Sadam... AGAIN!

Bush while Gov of TX upheld the law when juries sentenced people to death...

Unfortunately, I've actually had lunch with this fellow (he used to teach a course at my alma mater). It ended in a huge argument, as he is total left wing loon. He believes Cuba is an ideal place for someone in the Third World to live.

I'm waiting to see what the leader of Canada's NDP Jack Layton is going to say. (The NDP is to the left of the Liberal party, if you can believe that.) It's coming up soon. I've been watching the local cable news channel for about an hour now, and it's been pretty predictable. They showed a two clip montages twice each of protests from around the world, talked to the organizer of the protest, to a cop about crowd control and a couple of their reporters. Not a single clip or even a word about the other side of the issue.

I wish I could get FOX News.

We understood that the Islamic Fascists of which the Left has joined forces with, wants, and will if they win, kill every single Jew. These Fascists, they cried, Death to the Jews! Death to the Americans! ... you see, the translation wasnt exactly right it wasnt Death to the Jews, Death to America. It was Death to the Jews, Death to Americans.
You see you are the next Jew for the ovens. That is want they want of us, that is the real face of this "Mayor", and of "Jesse". This isnt anti-war, this is Death to America and Death to Americans. And that is why the Left has joined with them they were with them all along.
They, the left, were with them all along, and among this Left they are right now assisting the terrorists, and yes they are assisting them to engage in terrorist acts. In the early 1970s, I remember seeing Professors at U.C. Berkeley enter a building a residence which bore the sign Property of U.C. Berkeley. Men dressed in Islamic clothing were entering. I went to that building. The windows were covered with heavy curtains, but one pulled aside a bit, and a Middle Eastern man looked out at me. I looked in. On the walls were huge posters of a man with beard, who later I found was the Ayatollah. There were posters of Middle Eastern men holding rifles. On the floor sat those in Eastern dress, and among them were obviously U.C. students. A man was talking to them. He was not Middle Eastern. He may of had a beard, but he was American, he wore a green V-neck sweater, those gum shoes the teachers wear, the glasses I knew at once, he was a U.C. Professor. Why the pictures of men with guns?, I asked myself. Very soon, I would learn why. The left has been with them all along. You are not seeing anti-war in the streets. You are seeing those who will use every means, every enemy, who will also use war, gas, anything to kill us.
Period.

Consider the source--The Mayor of London has even been a pain in the neck for the ultra-liberals. Why his opinion on anything (other than which streets to close because of the Harrod's post-Christmas sale mob) should matter is beyond American speculation!

When Livingstone was leader of London Council in the 1980s, he invited IRA terrorists to negotiations at the same time as they were bombing Londoners. But then he didn't get the position democratically, so I don't suppose he needed to care about them.

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone This is the same Ken Livingstone who scurried around the back door of his office to avoid a crowd of angry, pie-wielding clowns (not kidding) who were protesting his extortionist parking fees.

What are the Muslims (who are the minority in Calcutta), doing in Calcutta India as I write this? I will tell you. I will tell you, and I have first hand sources of this. They are going to apartment and houses of those who are Jain, Buddhist, Hindu, Jew and Christian. I am going to tell you Gods truth. They are leaving notes, and they are also making phone calls using a list they bought from corrupt officials. They are demanding money. That is right. Lahks ruppees they want. That money will go to the Islamic terrorists in Calcutta, in Kashmir, Hyderbad. This is also going to the CPI(M) Communist Party of India, Marxist, which has a very large Muslim constituency. Does this sound strange to you, Islamic nut cases joined with Communists? Well, it is just the way it is my friend, that is the real politics of what happens in some parts of the world. The left, the remnants of the communists in this world, have very much indeed joined with the Islamic terrorists. The Baath is a Socialist party. We are called the capitalist Jews. That is what you are to them the Capitalist pigs and capitalist Jews. They say, Eat the Rich. And you will be eaten if you dont get what going on here very soon. On your television right now, there is the lie, and the lies and spin. There is no anti-war. There is only anti-America.

I have my prized book - an anthology of short poems. One caught my attention. A few quotes though, maybe appropriate.
Milton! thou should be living at this hour: England hath need of thee: she is a fen Of stagnant waters: altar, sword and pen ..... We are selfish men: Oh! raise us up, return to us again; And give us manners, virtue, freedom, power. Thy soul was like a star, and dwelt apart; Thou hadst a voice whose sound was like the sea: Pure as the naked heavens, majestic,free.....
It is titled: London, 1802, written by William Wordsworth.(1770-1850). A telling statement that I read today from an English newspaper. It was to the effect that many of those who protest the war are also pro- abortion. Not very squeamish they.
Former socialist myself, I saw a Michael Caine film (lost the begger, I am afraid). Alfie - anti- abortion, too strong for their stomachs and very graphic. Oh yeah, if the anti-war protesters win, they can go back to see the old BBC and the sneering at Neville Chamberlain all over again. They can then say " if he had the guts to act..... etc". These Humbugs, fools and dupes took a powder when Belgrade was bombed though. Go get 'em GWB.

He got elected to be Mayor of London because he was the "None of the Above" candidate, and too many years had passed between him being head of the (now defunct) Greater London Council and his Mayoral campaign, for people to remember what an utter lunatic he was.
London is in serious trouble in terms of its infrastructure and transport - Livingstone has just made them a lot worse.
