SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - A security alliance with the United States is more important strategically for Australia than an alliance with the United Nations, Australia's prime minister said Sunday. In an interview broadcast Sunday, John Howard said he was unmoved by Friday's dramatic U.N. Security Council meeting where weapons inspectors gave a detailed accounting of Iraq's recent cooperation.

One by one like minded nations will fall in together recognizing the ultimate impotence of the UN. I thought going to the UN was a mistake but perhaps it isn't. It may, in fact, just flush out all the sewer rats.

...called the security alliance between the two countries "the ultimate guarantee" in security.

Of course, the US, UK, and the Aussies, face it, we are all cousins, and family sticks together, no matter what.

The Canadians (at least the western ones) and the Kiwis should also be in that group but I'm not so sure.

Bless PM Howard!

Send this off to the UN appeasers:

When Clinton bombed Iraq in '99 after inspectors were kicked out, the UN Security Council never had a say. The mainstream press applauded:

Wednesday night (AP Dec. 17) Iraq, Russia and China called to an immediate halt to the attacks. Iraq's UN envoy, Nizar Hamdoon, said that the uproar over weapons of mass destruction was "nothing more than a big lie" like the claim that Iraq was a threat to its neighbors. He said that Richard Butler, the head of UNSCOM, had cited only five incidents in 300 inspection operations. In an almost unanimous resolution (Reuters Dec. 17), the lower house of the Russian Parliament, said that the U.S. and Britain were engaged in "international terrorism." Yeltsin said the strikes "crudely violated" the UN charter and should be halted immediately. Russia is furious (Reuters Dec. 18) that the U.S. bypassed the UN Security Council which gave it no chance to use its veto.

********

While the Washington Times said (Reuters Dec. 17) that Clinton's attack followed the pattern of the "Wag the Dog scenario," the New York Times said the action "was fully justified." Support for the President and U.S. troops also came from the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, the Boston Globe, the Hartford Courant, the Miami Herald and the Chicago Tribune.

Great Satan, here we go just as you and I have been saying!

This is a shot through the hull of the UN not across the bow!

This is absolutely amazing but predictable by many of us since last September when GW warned the UN not to become irrelevant with disarming their cash cow buddy, their Uncle Soddomite.

I love that post, thank you!

Did you hear Brit Hume say that we have 34 nations on our side on FoxNews Sunday this morning? (^:

The most meaningful and truthful message I have read in a long time. In my opinion you have a wisdom vision of 20/20+.

No it is not the new UN. The UN is dying and RIP UN!

This group of Allies is the organization of countries who really care about freedom. I don't have a suggested name, but I'm sure some talented freeper will have one.

Just label it without the bad letters UN in it!

Thanks for starting out with these flags. They have been a rallying point for many of us, and they will continue to be a rallying point.

Goodnesswins suggested the "Liberty Alliance," which I think is just perfect -- Reaganesque, wouldn't you say?

Yes, I heard that....but I'm reluctant to add additional ones until they have made substantial statements or commitments to the fight....I'm hearing Canada MIGHT be joining us - a frigate was proffered up from what I understand - but I haven't heard any statements by the Prime Minister yet....

G'day matey! Gotta love the Aussies for standing by us when we need em. They're such great friends that they really make you stronger. I still miss a friend from Australia who immigrated to our shores who passed away in the last month. If you are privileged to have a friend from Down Under you know how loyal they can be. Go, go Australia!!!
